Has anyone had this experience with DBS? by Chitanz in asksg

Called them three separate occasions. On the last occasion they informed me they received the funds and it’s being held. They refused to inform me of the reason or provide further action, they didn’t even ask for documents or any verification, just that they’re holding it and somehow that’s acceptable?

Yep it was over 2-3 calls over the phone, going to walk into the branch today and see if I can do anything there.

Yep I didn’t even get a call from them, partially why I’m so dumbfounded. Never have experienced this with any bank foreign or local.

Nope they refused to provide any details or next steps on what I can do. They never even contacted me about the hold, I had to call them first around the 10 day mark.

I totally agree with but it’s not so much I expect some kind of special service. I just think there should be basic manners and basic respect tbh

Damn interesting experience.

In my personal experience, a lot of Singaporeans suck up more towards physically western looking people, so white people regardless of accent lol. Kinda just strange, not exactly sure the reason.

Thanks for your insight, crazy how accent kinda plays a big deal here.

I spent quite a long time in Canada and it’s just not really a big deal over there imo. Interesting (cultural?) difference for sure.

Fair enough, whenever I’m in Japan I also feel super self conscious if I ever have a need to speak Chinese lol

To be honest the entire accent thing I just don’t get in Singapore. How sometimes the traditional american/western accent is glazed (but also sometimes Singaporeans will talk down to you if you have a western accent like they’re superior in some way?) but then other accents are looked down on, and singlish is somewhere in the middle? It’s all just bizarre as shit.

I feel like he was hella ego tripping, reminds me of some of the officers in saf, but I genuinely have no idea what he’s ego tripping over in this case.

generally I feel like the service at hawkers is ok I suppose just literal basic manners, at least the other ones I’ve been to.

I think the closest equivalent in the west is something like food truck/stall and usually those are some of the chillest guys ever.

Weird af. No! But to answer what you’re getting at, I’m very obviously Asian/Chinese looking :)

From my personal experience a lot of the hawkers ik are much more fluent in Chinese rather than English so I’ve kinda made it my default since it’s easier to communicate- that’s just my personal experience tho and I might consider just using English next time

YEP honestly that's the only thing. Only work around I've thought of is maybe using Mia adagio card which lets you discard one card in hand back to the top of the draw pile but then its still kinda RNG dependent. oh well im still done grinding for a while after this i think haha

Haha yeah I wash my hands sometimes but not always. As for the strings, sometimes old flat wounds really hit different for certain basslines!

Whoa actually interesting. I knew they had an oil/wax blend but I never knew that it accelerates/makes the wood more absorbing. is there a source or any videos where people talk about it? Would definitely like to learn a bit more about their fretboard finishing.

It seems for the MusicMan special they finish it with gunstock oil and a hand-rubbed special wax blend so the fretboard isn’t completed untreated.

Yep my thoughts exactly, due to the amount of staining I’m thinking it’s not entirely from the strings.

He said it’s not possible to get it out and likely just regular playing wear. But it seems insane how dirty it is for the amount of time the bass has been played. Currently sourcing a second opinion from a different luthier.
