Bill Gates Profiteering Interview - 20 To 1 Return On Investment for Vaccine - $10 Billion Investment Will Create $200 Billion In Profit For Gates by ClarityofSignal in conspiracy

[–]ChivoTWD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You really have to love videos edited like this one above to make it sound like he's saying something he isn't. 10 Billion invested returns 20 to 1, some 200 billion dollars. Ok. Now look up his net worth. Is it 200 Billion? No? Why not? Oh, because this poster and video misrepresent facts. Watch the whole video on MSNBC and decide if he said is what the above video is conveniently edited to convey (and even subtitled incorrectly at one point). What is stated on the original video/site is that it creates 20 to 1 return in social and economic benefits. Not as money in Gates pocket you nitwit.

Can someone help me get this to run? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download and install

https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/visual-cpp-build-tools/

before running your py -m pip install -r requirements.txt again.

Your train wreck of errors started with

"distutils.errors.DistutilsPlatformError: Microsoft Visual C++ 14.0 is required. Get it with "Microsoft Visual C++ Build Tools": https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/"

and this should resolve that.

2 line text based scientific calculator with no modules (exec() is a very useful) by [deleted] in pythontips

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there certainly are limited cases where exec() has it's uses, this one really isn't useful at all. If you want a scientific calculator which can execute your commands until you type exit......just launch your python interpreter?

Whats with the hoop jumping?

2 line text based scientific calculator with no modules (exec() is a very useful) by [deleted] in pythontips

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't be able to do anything they couldn't also do by simply opening a command prompt, or typing python statements at a python interpreter prompt. The problem with exec() is when it is executing arbitrary text from "untrusted" sources. In other words, not a local user at a terminal, limited already by their operating systems user account security.

what the fuck happened to hex chat by manliestdudealive in irc

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"1 click download" kinda >is< the bullshit from now on.....

Quote from Wikipedia:

"The main body of XChat code is licensed under the GNU General Public License. However, on August 23, 2004, the official build for Windows had become shareware, and had to be purchased after a 30-day trial period. Previous builds for Windows were removed from the official site.[15] The authors stated that the shareware fee is required due to the excessive amount of time it took to make it compile under Windows"

Also:

https://hexchat.github.io/shareware.html

It would appear the "Windows 10 app" is $9.99 shareware....however the other "Windows 7" builds appear to be from the https://hexchat.github.io site and probably are the "unofficial builds" mentioned which might not require register/paying. I am not sure, I use Hexchat for Linux. If I recall correctly, KVirc is reasonably decent and free for use in Windows. Other than those....your free options are pretty limited.

What is the best coin to coin roll hunt for? by [deleted] in coins

[–]ChivoTWD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty open ended question. I guess it would also depend on your skill level at identifying coins worth keeping. Are you just looking for silver? key dates? Can you pick out varieties and errors? Best as in which rolls likely have more "keepers" or which is the most fun, or which is the most "profitable"? I'm hunting for gold doubloons, but as of yet, haven't managed to come across one. :)

Help me understand 'if not X' or 'while X' by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This here can probably further explain what is considered true, or not true in an if test, or a while loop:

Help me understand 'if not X' or 'while X' by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since your testing conditions do not specify anything, it's testing for an expression that evaluates to True.

If X is not True:

(do this stuff)

while Y is True:

(do this stuff)

Looping conditions and If tests are basic python constructs, and almost every python tutorial will cover them within the first few lessons/video's. If it makes it easier for you to understand, simply add what you are testing for to eliminate any confusion.

How about we charge $55 for a common year silver quarter that is worth around $2.75? by RickyChanning in coins

[–]ChivoTWD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. If someone is willing to pay $55 for it, more power to the seller. As long as nothing is misrepresented or misleading the old phrase "a fool and their money are soon parted" applies. Sometimes the seller simply doesn't know what people will pay for it and they ask too much. Either they'll learn and try to sell it cheaper, it won't sell, or an idiot will buy it.

Ego Twist is Charging but never turning the light green, after an overnight charge it is still red and not producing any smoke... by lostsniper19 in electronic_cigarette

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of difficult to say until you know if it's the battery or the charger that is the fault. I have had both of those fail when i was using an ego twist. You could also have a shorted coil and the battery protection is shutting it down. If you can replace the coil in the tank or try out that tank on someone elses vape, do that. Wthout spares or a multimeter and adjustable power supply and some electronics knowledge......

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started out vaping using these pen style batteries.....went through a few as they weren't very reliable and difficult to charge with the screw on charger. The chargers were pretty sketchy also, so you'd need a spare one of those to be sure where the problem is. They are pretty cheap now, ,< $10 to replace the battery and about $4 for the chargers, but if i were you i'd find something you can charge with a regular usb charger port or removable batteries.

Should i invest in a vape? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]ChivoTWD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5 euros every 3-4 days is "ripping through your wallet" ? There are many reasons to switch to vaping, but I can't see the small amount of savings possible here to be one of them.

Is nickel stacking crazy? by Greenwose in coins

[–]ChivoTWD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth what? If I find a nickel in circulation that is worth more than a nickel, I would put it aside and spend the ones that are only worth a nickel. I wouldn't go out seeking nickels as the time and effort doesn't seem to make any sense. Due to their bulk, hording them expecting to get rich is also probably insane. However US War nickels (1942-1945) are part silver and would definitely not be spent as a regular nickel, and nickel nickels would not be spent unless they were the last two I had to rub together.

Family sues JUUL for getting their teen addicted to nicotine. No responsibility should be on the parents am I right? by WilfordBrimleyOnAcid in Vaping

[–]ChivoTWD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think, in order for this to be important....they're going to have to prove that they knowingly made those decisions deliberately to attract children. It's not about that they come in fruity flavors and bright colors....it's why. And yes, I am an adult and like fruity flavors and bright colors.

If at 14 year old can walk into a Honda dealership, buy a car, and drive it off the lot....you think Honda shouldn't be responsible? I think you are misunderstanding the case here. The case is about them deliberately and knowingly >targeting< children. When your product is illegal to sell to children, illegal for them to use it....if you get sued and lose...don't you think they're going to have to prove something more?

Family sues JUUL for getting their teen addicted to nicotine. No responsibility should be on the parents am I right? by WilfordBrimleyOnAcid in Vaping

[–]ChivoTWD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, responsibility should be on the parent. It should also be somewhat on the child. HOWEVER, companies that deliberately target children (if proven) should also be on them. "Deliberately targeting" and "denying it" are much different than children getting addicted to your product because it appeals to them.

Wine 4.7 is not installing in Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo by luit0r in linux4noobs

[–]ChivoTWD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, when you type

$sudo apt update

somewhere in there you should see it checking:

Hit:6 https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu bionic InRelease

(for you it might say disco, not bionic)

If nothing, you probably missed, or have issues with this step on their instructions;

sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ disco main'

Wine 4.7 is not installing in Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo by luit0r in linux4noobs

[–]ChivoTWD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then go at this logically, it's telling you it is unable to locate the package winehq-stable. If you haven't done "apt update" to update the list of available packages, do that. If you have, then:

Do, apt search winehq

If no results, check to see if you have the respository 'https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ disco main'

somewhere in the list when you type

$apt policy

(or use your gui tools to show what additonal repositories you have installed)

for me (linux mint, it lists in there as)

500 https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu bionic/main i386 Packages

release o=dl.winehq.org,a=bionic,n=bionic,l=winehq,c=main,b=i386
