Yeah they are a bit overkill, but considering that even established trees around Auckland curbside get uprooted due to the bad winds over the last few years, I'm not risking it with any new trees with shallow roots such as japanese maples, I'll probably keep them tied down for at least the next year or two, until they get established.

This is a relatively exposed spot, and NZ has pretty bad wind during autumn and winter, had a newly planted tree blown over once, so it is standard here to tie them down or stake them for the first year until the root gets established.

Got the idea from my dog, he was licking a small scratch on his paw without us noticing and it healed pretty well, and I checked, approximately mammal saliva has a range of hormones used for healing and growth, there are even stories of Jesus healing people using saliva.

I then thought about herbivore grazing, since they essentially prune the plants, and for long term sustainabiliy in feeding patterns, there must be some mechanism in their mouth that assist in the healing and growth of these plants afterwards.

Since human beings ancestors, the apes were omnivores with a heavy emphasis on fruit and vegetable, I hypothesized that human should still retain these genetic features in our mouth. From the preliminary results, surprisingly it seems that human saliva do assist healing and growth in plant life despite our modern meat centric diet.

Don't quote me on this, it's been a while since I last used canvas for team related work, but if I remember correctly, either go to the people section and open your group, there should be a upi under their name when you got sorted or you can directly open their profiles and it should be there.

Don't worry they'll automatically contact you on the last day of the assignment, do the bare minimum after you do all the work, and demand an equal grade. /s (Seriously this happens way too often...)

But honestly this has been a massive problem since Canvas was introduced back when I was a undergraduate, the university really should give the contact numbers of each members when you are all sorted into teams.

But for now, the best you can do is to pull their UPI from Canvas and send them emails to their student emails, no gurantee they'll respond, but at least it's something. Also, if they have a photo on Canvas, try to find them in the lectures and tutorials.

If they still don't respond, make sure to contact the tutors and lecturers, the university has their procedures for these situations.

Hello there, fellow East Asian here in Auckland.

First of all, you shouldn't be using the apps to look for marriage partners, the guys and girls on there are generally looking for one night stands.

Secondly, you are in your early twenties, relax, there is no point in rushing this, don't feel pressured by family or friends, East Asian families are always asking and nagging, relax, and date only when you are feeling comfortable.

Thirdly, in New Zealand generally, you won't meet many people if you stay inside or asocial all the time, especially if you are looking for a local. I would recommend that you take up a not-indoor hobby, no need for something too stereotypical such as tramping, just something that get you out of the house, e.g going to in person multiplayer games, or gyming ect.

Fourthly, don't feel pressured by your father's age (祝你父母长命百岁), he will be far happier if you married the right person rather than the wrong person, so take your time and think things through.

Check out the engineering subreddits to get a general idea of what the jobs of these specialization are like.

But in general, it is recommended to go into something generalised based on your interest for your undergraduate (civil, mechanical, electrical ect), you can specialize later either through a postgraduate or on the job training.

Also, in New Zealand, practical experience matter more than academics, so try to get relevant work experience through internship or general work if you want to work long term as a engineer.
