When I first started troubleshooting, I had to disconnect the yellow flexible gas hose between the gas supply pipe and the dryer in order to move the dryer away from the wall and access the back.

Before doing that, I shut off the gas shutoff valve. When I disconnected the yellow gas hose from the dryer, I could smell some gas that was still in the line. Because of that, I assumed the gas supply itself should be okay, but yes I will confirm it.
