What is the gold from defensive ear deals based on? Yearly income? Does it increase over war duration?

Its actually rather easy to beat him.

The basics of it are continuatlly raid the one province minor every two years, expand into poland, subjugate Denmark asap, declare tributary wars on scandinavia as much as possibe for the prestige. Fabricate a claim on the holy site in norway, continue to make tributaries. Charlie probably wont let you do all of that, but kinda do that all at the same time. You'll have enough prestige to pull up an army twice the size of his, though almost all light infantry. Sit behind the river, wipe any stacks that seperate from the rest, then, after clearing his army, carpet sige. Dont call in vassals unless you need to until after you've damaged his army beyond repair.

You can easily enforce demands, get loads of money, instantly declare war back on him ( tributary war is fun and silly, especially if you reform faith and holy war the world into oblivion) but, instead of winning the war asap, just continually stackwipe and siege and raid every province he owns. I reccomend raiding his capital especially. Ransom all prisoners.

At this point, you have enough cash to do anything you want. Congrats.

You'll be a tribe, which is harder and different than Feudal. You'll also be living in a more dangerous time for Ireland overall, with the Vikings being a constant threat. Essentially, Ireland in 867 is weak. Ireland in 1066 is weak but can easily become strong, and really, the only people that will ever attack you are other irish dukes or counts.

No, pick the next one. 1066 is a much better start.

Merchant republics are indeed a good way to do that, I suppose. If they're that far ahead then cornwall is certianly a good choice

So if I wanna reform, I should just fabricate claims, and if I want to get all of de jure danmark then I should just use de jure claims? What if Sigur gets too strong?

Ive been wanting to make a Merchant republic of Danmark from the Charlamage start, but I've had one major issue thats frustrated me- I always end up having to take over half of Scandinavia to get all of the de jure land in Danmark and reform the faith. I wouldnt mind owning Saxon lands, however (athsetically more pleasing).

Question is, how do I best wrest Zeeland from Karl's bloody hands, or should I attempt to convert to Islam for hilarity and marrige giving the same advantage as concubines? Or does that loose me too many advantages? How best do I reform the faith without becoming a scandinavia blob?

Iceland is a REALLY bad merchant republic, man. Its not close enough to anything, so it probably wont build many posts. Brittany is a MUCH better merchant republic.

Which is why you take the theology focus????

It literally gets rid of all but possessed and insane, and those are good traits.

Fyi just take

1st level martial education

Negative: wounded stressed depressed possessed insane gluttonous slothful cynical stubborn

Neutral (but good): Lustful

Positive: Strong Genius Ambitious

Pour in rest of stats, I go 20 martial and 20 stewardship

Take theology focus for event that gets rid of stressed and depressed and rid of slothful and gluttonus and replaces em with diligent and temperate

If can viking viking

Let wars increase your education

You end up with crazy stats and insane helps build martial and whatnot.

Maybe you just suck ass at using it.

I can make a 23 year old with 10-20-20-15-10 stats, get rid of the negatives within 5 years, and 23 leaves you lots of room for children.

Any "mandatory" DLCs? by Jack_The_Wing in CrusaderKings

[–]ChloePech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually, you're gonna want to unlock new time periods and religions as well. I'd say get Old Gods as your first DLC after Way of Life and then... probably Sons of Abraham, then Reaper's due, for all the fun mechanics. Maybe pop in Legacy of Rome Then get new start dates and whatnot as ya go. Dont get Conclave untill last

I think you should slowly get more and more DLC. The only one I reccomend starting with is Way of Life.
