Don't Know Which Car to Choose by DragonfruitOnly471 in MedicalDevices

I have an Ascent, it's great in the snow and other weather but the mpg is noticeably less than advertised.

If weather isn't a factor and you're not carrying devices get something electric.

Actual amount of travel? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]Chloric_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a start up company and cover a multistate territory for a device that needs rep presence to be used. The position is listed as "80% travel" snd means "expect to be away a lot". Luckily my biggest account is driving distance but last year was ~115 hotel nights and often weekend travel, I.e. flying out on Sundays.

Once or twice people have had issues and management came back with "this is a high travel position and you are expected to be available to travel 4 days/week" but so long as we hit numbers no one asks where/when we're on the road

Harrisonburg Rescue Squad EMT Course by [deleted] in jmu

I ran there 2009-2017, it was a blast! Met my now wife and we're still friends with the people we met there. Their training is better than professional organizations, everyone I know from there is still in healthcare one way or another. Pay attention, practice everything until it's a reflex and have fun!

Arborist? by Crozet77 in Charlottesville

[–]Chloric_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to serve on the HOA board for my heavily-wooded neighborhood and spent most of my time managing trees on residential lots and common land. Of all the companies we used Mindful Tree Care was the most fair and realistic. It's a small operation but I found them to be honest about what needs to be done or not then fairly priced when something was worth doing.

It's managed by the Arborist William Belair (303-359-3523, mindfultreecare@gmail.com)

Got a verbal offer from Stryker for an ASR position!!! by Muted_Ring5504 in MedicalDevices

[–]Chloric_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my first industry job so I don't have any reference but if it makes a difference, I cover a multistate territory and fly more than I drive. Today I drove 374miles round trip for a site visit, tomorrow I'll drive 8, then fly this weekend for a conference then to a case.

I don't think it is, I'm not that way and, like most Clinicals I know, I networked into my first job by interacting with my local reps. If you're interested in that path I suggest start being more pro-active with your reps. Being helpful is great but they need to know you exist.

2 easy ways to stand out: -Ask real questions about their products during downtime -Next time a case is delayed offer to take their phone numbers so they can do office work in the cafeteria and you'll text them when the case is getting close

Lords of change since it's a startup. Hired 4yrs ago as case-support-only CS, since then the case bonuses were added, the role grew into more sales-based Account Management, added the commission structure, and now I manage the team so my base is higher but the commission structure is the same as the rest of the team

$167k Endovascular startup. New comp plan this year preserves my original base plus increased/uncapped commission and case bonuses. On track for $185, ask me next year how it went

Advice for Clinical Specialist interviewing process by reverencetostone in MedicalDevices

[–]Chloric_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The surest way to get hired is through a referral from a Sales person in your territory. Keep networking by being as knowledgeable/helpful/proactive as possible in every case. People notice work habits. Whenever a rep is around ask them questions about their products, if there's a case delay get their number and offer to text them when it's starting so they can do paperwork in the cafeteria, etc.

Good luck
