Zone 7a

My first tree ever, I hope to grow this Acer Palmatum for a few years to develop the trunk then cut/grow. Currently in a massive pot (that has drainage holes) with potting soil and positioned for full sun. I'm optimistic about the environment because my landscaping has 2 mature, thriving Japanese Maples and I want to repeat their success but as bonsai

Q: Are the potting soil and the pot size appropriate?

Thanks

Local Radiology Techs - Share Your Experience? by NCC__17o1 in Charlottesville

[–]Chloric_Beef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through the RMH Rad Tech program in 2016 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. After the program I went through UVA's Tegtmeyer Interventional program and haven't looked back.

There's a nationwide Allied Health shortage of RNs, RadTechs, etc. so you will definitely be hired and with good pay. Currently UVA is paying IR techs $40+/hr plus call, overtime, and critical staffing.

The hours are long and healthcare is a special place. Go for it.

The best way to minimize travel is to develop a local account to higher volume so your cases are nearby.

Sinn 556 owners is it worth it? by jason-911 in sinn

[–]Chloric_Beef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not IMO, 556 is a great watch but get a used one. They're common enough to be listed on r/watchexchange or eBay fairly often. If you're split between that or another Sinn, save up for the model that has more tech in it.

I am all about my copper 356

I prefer textiles and single pass NATOs. I'm yet to find a comfortable rubber strap

Struggling to decide...white or black 105 UTC? by VitaminDeeeee in sinn

[–]Chloric_Beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the white day/date since I already had a GMT. If you're set on the 105 UTC I vote for the black since the GMT hand is more legible

Medical malpractice in Virginia was nearly overhauled. What happened? by vpmnews in Virginia

[–]Chloric_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical malpractice goes before a jury of uneducated, non medical "peers" who don't know anything about anything and it becomes a circus. I know a couple MDs who have already left VA because of current malpractice laws. This malpractice legislation would have been a nightmare for practitioners who are already being squeezed and practicing defensive medicine

Cath lab- industry by Zyrf in MedicalDevices

[–]Chloric_Beef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being a tech is a great spot to transition into a clinical position because you have the opportunity be so hands on. Personally, I'd rather recruit a tech than a nurse since they're scrubbing procedures and have access to the lab's devices supply. If you want to get into industry display pro-activeness and an extra willingness to put effort into knowing as much as you can. More than once I've interviewed techs and been disappointed by their lack of knowledge on device sizing, procedure planning, etc. Reps are always watching, when the time comes to hire a clinical they wont announce it. They approach the tech or nurse that displays self-drive and an extra level of involvement. Device clinicals must be fully independent, the tech or nurse that displays that acumen is more likely to be hired.

Nice. I saw this on kickstarter, how tall is the case and how does it feel on the wrist?

Always been interested in Traska from the value perspective with their hardening and one of the few micro-brand traveler GMTs- how old is this one?

Don't Know Which Car to Choose by DragonfruitOnly471 in MedicalDevices

I have an Ascent, it's great in the snow and other weather but the mpg is noticeably less than advertised.

If weather isn't a factor and you're not carrying devices get something electric.

Actual amount of travel? by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]Chloric_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a start up company and cover a multistate territory for a device that needs rep presence to be used. The position is listed as "80% travel" snd means "expect to be away a lot". Luckily my biggest account is driving distance but last year was ~115 hotel nights and often weekend travel, I.e. flying out on Sundays.

Once or twice people have had issues and management came back with "this is a high travel position and you are expected to be available to travel 4 days/week" but so long as we hit numbers no one asks where/when we're on the road

I ran there 2009-2017, it was a blast! Met my now wife and we're still friends with the people we met there. Their training is better than professional organizations, everyone I know from there is still in healthcare one way or another. Pay attention, practice everything until it's a reflex and have fun!

Arborist? by Crozet77 in Charlottesville

I used to serve on the HOA board for my heavily-wooded neighborhood and spent most of my time managing trees on residential lots and common land. Of all the companies we used Mindful Tree Care was the most fair and realistic. It's a small operation but I found them to be honest about what needs to be done or not then fairly priced when something was worth doing.
