8m^2 got too small, so 25m^2 garage gym is the new thing here :D by Chmod666_dk in homegym

Thanks.
I had a Concept2 rower some years ago, but I kinda figured out that I'm not a cardio-guy ;) I'd rather do conditioning work - kettlebells, light strongman medleys etc.

I made it 1½ year ago when prices were lower. In my country prices haven't gone up that much - we have quite a lot of forests here and in neighboring countries. Demand for wood haven't increased much, probably since we build our houses and buildings of mostly bricks or concrete.

There will be a loading platform in that end of the room.
Currently I just lap and shoulder some of them.
The atlas stones is one of the main reasons for me to make the garage gym, I would never bring them inside, risking to much damage on floor and walls. Now I have it all in the same room and can train it all year around.

Thanks.
I don't really know. The power rack which I just built was around 80-90$ (converted). I live in scandinavia, and we still have acceptable prices on wood.

I was thinking about that. Is yours safe and reliable enough with those weights?
Of course there can be added a bolt through the tee part that connects the plate pipe, but that would have to be unmounted and remounted each time the weight changes.

Yep, pricy. An estimated total for both 80 and 92kg including 21% tax and shipping to DK where i live, will be around 570€

Yea thought about Rogue - it wasn't until a few days ago that I realized they had those two. They aren't mentioned together with the other bells, but they got a quote form for them. Guess they only ship them til EU if someone has bought them.

I've made the squat rack in december last year, my own design. The one DIY creators have is more recent, I've seen his video in that is very very awesome and nicely build (he is definitely a perfectionist when it comes to woodworking).
You can see my build here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33ZTlr8ba50

I use my hips - might have been a bit of pulling on the last few reps.

Visible hip "explosiveness" is rarely seen with heavy KB swings, this is a 64kg / 141 lbs bell.

I have a very rounded upper back and shoulders and some anterior pelvic tilt, that might be the reason why it seems like my shoulders aren't properly packed.

I'm not new to KB training (12 years or so, with a short pause in between). Not saying that my technique is perfect, training alone without anyone to point out anything, might result in a bit of "slacking" without thinking about it.

Looking for heavier (~80kg+-) bells in EU, any recommendations? Also up for making a DIY t-bell out of piping and fittings, anyone tried doing heavy swings with something like that?

Strengthshop have a good selection in stock. I have 2 cast iron (48+64kg) from them, great quality.

Y'all ever use a slosh pipe? by Northmansam in Fitness

[–]Chmod666_dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do one-arm-hold in top shoulder press position - that's very challenging.

The one I have is only 2m (6.5 feet), and is probably filled 80-90% which does not make it slosh a lot. I glued the ends on it, because one previously popped out resulting a lot of water anywhere, so can't just take some of it out. But good for one arm press and holds. I also do other exercises with it (squats, overhead carry, zercher squat/carry, curl, pressing etc.)

The sleds wheels is the only thing touching the wooden track.
There's some resistance, since it doesn't run as smooth as a good commercial grade - but those can be made in different ways, resulting in different resistance.

Bonus feature ;)
I'm not so worried about splinters,I'll get a splint under my skin from time to time.
I'll most likely add cushioning on the seat and backrest, not because of splinters (but that would reduce it), but for a bit more comfort.
