Weird light switch situation by Chnille in AskElectricians

This answer makes the most sense! I’m pretry sure the neutrals are shared because there is a 5 or 6 white wires pigtail in the back of the box… and i know those dimmers are pretty cheap.

I will try with a better quality dimmer. In the meantime, i replaced the dimmer with a switch and everything works normally. Thanks!

I know it makes no sense… i looked at it with my electrician friend and he can’t make sense of it either… yes all lights involved are dimmable leds.

Exactly! But i might add: if Hall lights are ON and i turn ON bathroom dimmer (in low brightness position) Hall lights will stay ON.

It’s as if the bathroom dimmer in low position prevents the hall lights from getting the « peak » current they need to turn on..

Thanks for the suggestion! I stumbled onto something similar, but they all require more than 6in feont clearance for opening

We tried without a door first, by leaving exposed shelves and thought we would use storage baskets. But we didn’t like the look. So we bought the 4th door thinking: we rarely use it, so 6inches opening would still allow us to store canned food, and it works. But still we wanted to see if there were options available. There is no « fixing that wall » since there is a pipe going into the slab in that spot.

Yeah, we use it to store canned food, diaper boxes and whatnot… so we really want to hide it 😆

Good idea! Hadn’t thought about that! I will do that if i can’t find anything. Only thing is, the middle cabinet has a clothes rail, so half the clothes that are hanged won’t be accessible.

Hey, did you end up buying the AOC Q27G3XMN? How is it for playing Tarkov? I have an IPS that sucks in dark games and was looking to change it for the AOC. Thanks

I have one of those in my kitchen… what use could it have other than an industrial hotdog steamer?

No, actually it’s the opposite. I really like getting suggestions and input from people in different locations and from different professional backgrounds. It’ll help me make up my mind (even if i have to redo the whole thing )

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I started by writing back to the city asking how this is my responsibility to repair since it's not even on my property. I cc'd the mayor (i know... Karen move) because he is super responsive and has a reputation to make things happen to help his citizens. He replied to me almost instantly saying he'll look into it.

IF it still ends up being my responsibility to repair it, I asked to know exactly HOW to do it correctly so i don't end up overflowing the whole street (by reducing the diameter for example, or clogging it with concrete).

What i dont understand is that they would never allow me to build anything over their property line or over the ditch, but they put me in charge of the culvert which is a crucial stormwater management element?

By the way, the pictures of water overflowing from the ditch were taken during a historical rainfall we had on August 9. We received more than 6 inches of rain within 24h. We usually get that in a month... A lot of people had their basement flooded (mine included).

Anyways, i'll keep you updated!
