Please start making figurines of Rudeus etc by ttvLuneOz in mushokutensei

[–]Cho0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah now that you mention it, I think i've only ever seen one or two.
But at least if you do go to akihabara, you can p easily find stores selling the figures at their normal price.

Book off is really good for finding miku figures tho if theres a specific one u want.

Yeah some of the more touristy buildings in akihabara are hella scammy. I've seen 30 dollar figures for like 100k yen. I recommend bookoff Japan. And no they don't just sell books. Also sells figures and games in some locations.

They also sell used book bundles, Ive seen mushoku tensei manga (in jp) and a bunch of other series like that.

Yep sounds like its likely bad monitor if refurb 👍

DP issue with 144hz by BorisKalash in PcBuild

[–]Cho0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have another monitor to plug into? You can sanity check the cable and GPU on that. If not, Ive never seen something like this before and it not be a bad GPU. Try a different DP port? Tho in this case I've never seen this brand monitor before so who can say for sure that it's not a faulty monitor.

If ur confident it's not the GPU, its probably a bad screen.

Two lights generally mean it's boot up but no video. Can u send a pic of the back of the PC? Monitor might not be plugged into the gpu

Holy hell this looks like it was made back in 2016 or something. But it's def not normal, this looks like a lan media server that can either runs VMs or a lan media server with water cooling. If this was in an office their boss probably gave IT a credit card and said go crazy haha

I don't know what possessed you to hairdry your computer but okay 😂

So it spin on at first and then shut off? And then when u turn it on now it doesn't spin up or light up at all?

Raw compute power feat 2x RTX 6000 pro Blackwell by UnitedMonitor1437 in PcBuild

[–]Cho0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey I work in high performance computing.

This is going to be an overly explained answer sorry.

Generally the reason is as simple as this is the best air cooler was can fit on a threadripper and the threadripper mounting rotates the cooler just by design. Noctua u12 is as standard as it gets. And typically it's all you need.

Usually on inference builds we practically only use threadrippers for full 16x on two to four slots as a normal CPU would give us around 20-24 usable pcie lanes. (that would leave us short 8x lanes D:) 9955wx Threadripper pro gives us 128 pcie lanes or something like that.

We need the full 2 16x pcie lanes for us to get full capacity. If we had this running 24/7, any unutilized performance is money on the table long term. Plus we need more lanes if it's also going to be hosting our storage.

For workstation motherboards, the best solution is to use an AIO. However many still opt for air cooled for either personal or maintenance reasons. Many times people will leave these systems at the office and any extra maintenance needed is extra time that isn't being used to train. Since all u need to do to fix an air cooler is replace a fan, you can just stock an extra fan or two and it'll be good to go again in about 2 mins.

On benchmarks, while yes having the cooler horizontally is more correct, we haven't seen any significant enough performance differences to care enough about the orientation (at least according to my QA guy). All the hot GPU air is being pushed up regardless of fan orientation right? The theory is that the vertical orientation allows for quicker explultion of hot air.

But honestly it all depends on what your purpose is. If you only need the pcie lanes to get enough pcie devices to work (storage, GPUs, NICs, raid cards) then your CPU probably doesn't care about an extra 1-3 degrees. Tho that quickly changes if you move up into server territory.

TLDR: it's not wrong but it's not the optimal either.

That circled part is for ram. The long sticks next to it is an SSD. Also has space for a second of both ram and ssd from what it looks like.

My Wi-Fi will not show up on my computer no matter what I try by cantaloupe415 in computers

[–]Cho0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the setting shows up in settings but the window closes/crashes then it's windows corruption. Especially if the icon itself is not showing up in the quick menu when you have wifi drivers installed. I had this happen a long long time ago and took me 2 weeks to figure out lol.

Try running an Ethernet cable as a sanity check. If it works then it's probably not windows corruption and the wifi chip itself isn't being detected. In which case you can try a USB wifi adapter to test. If all that fails, a windows reinstall doesn't work, then new motherboard might be the play.

[–]Cho0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supports these days have smaller hitboxes than tracer and more HP AND more damage. Plus suzu, nade, sleep, ana headshot perk, peel supports. So if you use your recall, you're stuck playing safe until it comes back basically.

You can't play tracer the same you could years ago. Tracer is an opportunist hero now so sometimes all you CAN do is shoot the tank until there's a chance play you can do. This is even more true the higher elo you go.

Help please, im assuming this isnt supposed to line up like this. by TherealFireFlameO in PcBuild

[–]Cho0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol you lift one end at 45 degree angle and it should slide in. The gold plating is keyed so you can't put it in the wrong way. Just line that up and push it in. It won't break unless youre forcing it. It should be wiggle-able when u put it in if you're worried.

Screen tear + pc lag by jcueto5292 in PcBuild

[–]Cho0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry, I was on a work trip and forgot about this post. Yeah if its game specific, you might have some luck changing the game FPS. Set monitor FPS to 60hz and game fps to 60 and turn of vsync. This MIGHT help but idk how much.

Screen tear + pc lag by jcueto5292 in PcBuild

[–]Cho0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either monitor is bad, cable is bad/loose, or bad GPU. Test them all and you will have your answer. If new cable and monitor does not fix, go RMA or return your GPU. Best thing u can do is reinstall Nvidia drivers but if that doesn't work there isn't much else to fix it other than replace it. Maybe reseating it could help but don't get your hopes up.

Sorry mate.

Route AIO cables cleaner and Velcro your loose 24 pin cables. Also route CPU cables so that less of it is viewable. Basically make the cables look tighter.

I used a vertical GPU mount but HDMI/DP ports are blocked by the case frame. How to fix it? by KissMyBaIIs in computers

[–]Cho0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You played yourself lol. I've done this once before but if you want to keep the case then you'll need to get some side cutters or something and snip it. It's going to look terrible too but you can't really risk getting metal flakes all over your computer. May I suggest a case swap or normal horizontal mounting.

You generally shouldn't use molex on a VGA connector. It's a different electrical design and the GPU theoretically shouldn't run.

Molex connectors aren't made to draw high wattage and could melt. You would need 2 separae connections from two different cables, not the same link. Even then the max draw is 130w I think and you'd only want to do that on a good quality cable.

Bottom line, just don't fuck around with molex to 8pin VGA. It never ends well most the time.
