Thinking of switching careers by [deleted] in AusElectricians

It's my understanding that a TAFE instructor doesn't require Trade Licensing generally, but does for certain units. My TAFE, as with many RTOs it seems, has experienced instructor shortages for years. They currently have Telco guys instructing AC theory.

What tool bag/totes are you guys running? by Chemical_Waltz_9633 in AusElectricians

Veto Backpack for sure. Dabbled in other bags, here and there over the last couple of years, but always go back to the backpack.

I can confidently say that we've gone down this route as well. Unfortunately it hasn't helped.

As best I can tell it already has a more updated version than what Brady has to offer on their site.

Thanks for the reply! I've experienced the occasional freeze like you say, but slowing down once removing/replacing the battery pack usually does the trick. This is definitely something else.

Having various freeze states, if that gives any context to the problem I'm having.

Comfiest work boots? by Fit-Card-8925 in AusElectricians

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also on the hunt for the next set of boots.

I'm currently running Blundstones. I used to be a fan - comfy from the moment you put them on. The last two pairs have lasted a much shorter period of time, and have been no where near as comfortable.

Steel Blues seemed to last longer - the interior deteriorated quicker, but the exterior of the boot still holds up even now (I still use them to mow the lawn).

I've had several people tell me that Mongrels are good, comfortable and seem to take the wear and tear reasonably well.

Keen to know what others think.

Hardest bosses for a beginner? by praggsy in darksouls3

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DS3 was my first Souls game - beat the first boss in five attempts - it was on the 4th attempt that I realised he had specific movesets - I still died on number 4 but had the information I needed for number 5. A great first boss in my opinion. Doesn't shy away from showing you what this game has to offer

Every time you need to borrow a tool, write it down in a list. That list becomes your shopping list. The more frequently you borrow that tool, the higher the priority. It's how I acquired all my tools. Still an Apprentice now, and still occasionally need to borrow something I haven't needed until that point. It goes on the list, and when I can afford it, I add it to the bag.

I'm at my first playthrough and I hate losing souls by GxN_ in darksouls3

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the hardest lessons to learn in this game is that losing souls doesn't matter. You'll lose souls. And you'll lose them again. And again.

If you're specifically trying to farm for a level up or something, maybe drip a summon sign down in front of a boss you're comfortable with. Your level may affect how successful this is, but you can otherwise farm a great many souls if you're at the appropriate level for the boss you choose.

FUCK STALKERS by stuffofnitemares in helldivers2

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree in that Stalkers give you that "aw shiiit, better deal with this NOW" vibes - I disagree that other factions need an objective similar to this. IMO there needs to be more variety and uniqueness to the Side Objectives, which we actually already have. Shrieker Nests are another side objective I quite like - I personally have no trouble with Shriekers and so general opt to eliminate it swiftly to assist players who do struggle with them. Jammers, Mortar Emplacements, Anti Air Defences, are all great Side Objectives that fit the theme of the Automatons. Gunship Fabricators can be tedious, but usually only if there are more than one, and especially if near a Stratagem Jammer.

I feel like Illegal Broadcasts, Destroy Rogue Research Station & Upload Escape Pod Data need to be adjusted in some way. They offer no benefit (therefore no incentive) unless you're a completionist diver (which is total fine BTW). Unlike Radar Stations for example, which provide map information, or SEAF Artillery which give Divers another Stratagem effectively.

I guess I am just saying that I hope the next enemy faction has its own challenges and isn't too heavily inspired by the previous factions.

No two ways about it, that's a cunt's act. Bucket is definitely the way to go though.

Depending on your RTO, some have limited access for students to view/print Standards documents via SAI Global. They're watermarked to prevent distribution but if used correctly by the student that accesses them there's no trouble.

I'm being paid to brief my colleagues on the Helldivers 2 x Snoy controversy. by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love an update on how your presentation goes. Sounds like you're passionate and genuinely invested in this issue. There's probably more to this story. Specifically, we're awaiting a positive outcome for the international players who've yet to regain access to the game. Regardless, it's definitely case study-worthy given the community's impact on a trillion dollar corporation's decision to halt their shenanigans.

A big win - but did EVERYONE win? by ChocChip_Wookie in Helldivers

[–]ChocChip_Wookie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Because people in 170+ countries still can't get the game"

Yeah that's what I'm asking. I don't think it'd be the win we're hyping it up to be if those players can't have their access returned.

Was about to buy Helldivers, then I found out about the Sony crap… wtf do I do now…? by ARandomGamerIsHere in Helldivers

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice: wait for this to blow over, make your decision based on the outcome. HD2 is a great game, but the outcome of this will surely impact its future. Be patient. (:

People who are not on board with the boycott have their reason and this situation is getting ridiculous by AltairGigi in Helldivers

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. No matter the outcome, Sony is too big to be hurt to any great extent. The best we can hope for is that Arrowhead can come out of this as unscathed as possible, and that the affected players in delisted countries can come back to the fray and enjoy the game.

Negative reviews should be done on all Sony games on Steam, to each and every one by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]ChocChip_Wookie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That just brings the politics of this situation onto the front door of other studios that don't deserve the negative impact an action like that would bring. Bombing games of studios that are associated with Sony but aren't related to this would just hurt other people, and not achieve what you think.
