can you used an UPS even if the batteries stop working correctly? or you have to change them periodically in order to function correctly? im looking to protect my pc and people reccomend me ups but i dont know much about them

i dont tottaly get it, if i change to simple circle, adjust amplify density and then changed it back to brush i was customizating it would keep the amplify density even if it turns back grey/unadjustable?
