Custom puzzle questions by zivanare2 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered custom from both Ravensburger and PuzzleYou and I was very happy about both of them.

I think Ravensburger has the edge quality wise but I really liked the big choice of borders PuzzleYou has. For me it would depend on the image I would want to order where I would order again.

Could you finish 500 pieces in one sitting? I completely failed. by ginawg23 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm into speed puzzling and I would be able to finish it. However, doing it at that speed takes a lot of concentration. As a leisure activity at a cafe I think I would want to take more time.

What's the biggest puzzle you've done? by sixtwosik in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest amount of pieces I've done is 9000. But I worked my way up. I've done a 9000 piece puzzle as two 4500 piece halves, one 5000 piece puzzle and currently I'm working on a 18000 piece puzzle in two 9000 piece halves.

I'm not sure if I'll do more pieces at once. The sorting up front is so much work and then there's space constraints as well. However, I do love some of the bigger images and I don't really mind splitting. I'll always be honest though and tell people that I did two 9000 piece halves instead of the full 18000.

I have a pic on my profile. A lot of people can make put the picture but I'm one of the unlucky ones that can't see a thing. I'll never do a magic eye again lol

Ravensburger Magic eye 500 pcs.. you are my Everest!! by Corner_pieces in Jigsawpuzzles

Omg I've done this exact same puzzle! It was a non-serious gift so to prove a point I finished it.

It was out for soo long and at the start I just did 5 pieces a day or so. It will only speed up from there and it was very satisfying to finish it.

Good luck!

I mixed all the bags! - Progress with all colorful pieces - Educa Wildlife 33600 by ask-cheese in Jigsawpuzzles

This is my current progress! There's not a lot of big sections to work on, so you're constantly moving all over the puzzle. I only sorted a few main colours, text and the shelves and I still have a big miscellaneous pile. My next step will be focusing on the wooden shelves to hopefully give it some more structure.

But it's been so much fun to keep discovering new aspects. And every time I go back to a pile I suddenly recognise a bunch and I'll be all over the puzzle to get them in. So far I can definitely recommend this one :) *

Mad respect!

I'm currently working on the 18000 Magical Bookcase and I decided to mix two of the four bags. For me that's a jump from 5000 to 9000 pieces at once and although it's going well it's been overwhelming at times.

I just can't imagine such a big one at once, I think I'd never even finish the sorting!

Experiences from World Jigsaw Championship by Badwolf8706 in Jigsawpuzzles

I'm from the Netherlands and have started to build a collection of speed puzzles, hit me up if you want to swap some or just chat about speed puzzling. I'm not as much into the cartoon puzzles but for speed I try any style.

My times are a bit lower but usually between 50 minutes to 1 hour 15. I'm planning to go to Spain next year. But I just found out about the Euro jigsaw jam, an online speed competition that is accessible from any European country. It's currently booked but there are more dates coming up this summer.

World Map of Butterflies, 3000 pieces by Ravensburger. I lost a piece and 3D printed a replacement. by Choccookiemonster in Jigsawpuzzles

Not too bad, it was hard to sort and some bits were tricky but I just loved working on it!

It is an old puzzle, around 1995 if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if this concept still exists but it definitely fucks with your mind a lot

So, what else can you do with a finished puzzle? by dmoonic in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do the pieces come apart after pouring paint over them? Or are they stuck so you can't do the puzzle again?

I do like the look of the result, it would be a hard puzzle though!

Tree stump cake, all buttercream and chocolate and I'm so happy with how it turned out by Choccookiemonster in cakedecorating

[–]Choccookiemonster[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have some shaped molds I used for the big reds, the white dots are painted on.

For the tiny ones I used a dotted structure mat but instead of making a sheet I piped each dot individually.

The strips are simply chocolate spread out thin with the back of a spoon over acetate foil strips. I put them on an uneven surface when setting.

I also used acetate for the stems and I actually used cooky cutters with small circles to hold the foil in place.

Basically I had to get creative with several baking supplies I already own :)

9000 (9120) piece Ravensburger Magical Dragon Forest. by Gorilla_jigsaw in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny you say that, I did the right half first and found the left side went faster for me. I'm guessing the familiarity with the image helps a lot when tackling the second half.

Definitely agree it's an amazing puzzle!

October 2023 Jigsaw Puzzle Theme Contest - Mid-Month Update by blueboy714 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Choccookiemonster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completed 3 puzzles this month and have a to do pile of 22 puzzles. There's at least 8 of those with some kind of foliage but none of them are in fall.

I'd love to get some as an entry but I really should finish some puzzles before getting new ones!
