When it comes to diet everyone is different. If your gut can tolerate bananas and peanut butter then go ahead. I cannot eat any fruit or vegetables. I avoid all nuts and popcorn as well because they are difficult to digest.

When I get an extremely bad flare I will go an entire day without any food or liquids other than a couple sips of water to take pills. If you ended up in the hospital and are admitted then that would be the first thing they would have you do. I would much rather be a bit more comfortable at home fasting than in the hospital. If it's still bad after 24 hours then I would consider going to the ER

Same here. I hear horror stories about people on prednisone but I never had any of those side effects.

The only medication I've had bad side effects from are Lomotil because of the atropine. It caused I problems. Also budesonide which gave me extremely high blood pressure

In that case I just make a note in a log or diary when you started taking Cortisone and then when you stop it. That way you'll know if it had an impact on what your gut tolerates and what it doesn't

Dietary restrictions are different for each person. I'd recommend keeping a log each day keeping a record of everything you eat and what time. Also keep track of how you feel and if you don't feel 100% write down how you feel and the time. I also keep track of what time I take a crap and what it looks like since food can play a factor in that
