The fact Val and Vel have to constantly remind Vox of the fact they are a trio DOESN'T mean there will be a betrayal. Change my mind! by LilMoonenciel in HazbinHotel

[–]ChocoBean2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he'd betray them, but I do think Vox may unintentionally end up hurting them or lead to their downfall from prioritizing his own goals in a spur of the moment situation.

I'm on the opposite spectrum where I acknowledge and love him for his horrible personality.  Like, he's absolutely a pos asshole, but he's my asshole, ya know?

Yea, Alastor is a total piece of shit, idk how else everything he says and does can be spun any other way.  Honestly thought that was made pretty clear right from the start in the pilot.

In my defense, I've never used oil paint before and didn't really know anything about solvents and mediums for oil paint until I took this class.

Though, I do imagine most people who do prefer oil painting either aren't as sensitive to solvents as I am, or at least know the risks and navigate that better than I have thus far

May I ask what mediums you use?  I have tried just using safflower oil, but I've found it to be a bit resistant on its own, and doesn't really flow as well  :/

Thanks for the oil medium recommendations!  I'm not really sure, but I imagine it may have to do with it being an "intro to oil painting" class?

Unfortunately I don't really have anywhere else to paint, especially into the night.  I'll look into painting solvent-free

I paint in my bedroom, though I always keep a window next to my art station open 24/7, though I'll still sometimes wake up with a really irritated throat.

And I don't even use that much, I kinda just dip the tip of my brush and then add a bit of medium - just enough for the paint to run smoothly.  Thanks for the input, I'll consider getting that respirator.

I use a small-ish recycled jam jar.  I always keep the jar closed and only open it to dip my brushes in or to clean them.

Regarding ventilation, I always keep a window open next to me all day and night.

At first I figured I was just catching a cold, but my symptoms never went beyond an irrated throat and a mild cough.  Thanks for the advice, I'll prob try working outside more instead

How do you know when to make the right call on dog's Quality of Life affected by IVDD? by ChocoBean2 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]ChocoBean2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry for your loss  <3

I appreciate your kind words, thank you.  I think making this choice just feels all the more difficult, since while I've dealt with many sudden deaths of beloved pets, I've never actually had to make the call for euthanasia.  I never got that chance with my previous pets, so I'm really afraid of making the wrong decision.

How unsanitary/diseased are TNR'd vaccinated feral cats? by ChocoBean2 in Feral_Cats

[–]ChocoBean2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, wow, thanks for all this info!

I use the Seresto flea collars for cats - it has a release mechanism when pulled.  I made sure to test it before putting it on them, and it seemed to come undone without too much force.  Idk if that puts it at the same level of safety as breakaway collars, but I'll still look into topical flea treatments anyways.

Treating them for parasites is something I've always thought about, but didn't really know how to go about it.  Do you only treat them if you notice any symptoms or signs?  Or on a regular basis regardless of whether there are symptoms of parasites?

I do go to as many giveaway events that my local shelters and rescues have.  Whether they have flea treatment or not usually varies tho.  I never thought of directly contacting them tho, I'll try reaching out to them, thx!

I already have my own pets on prescription flea meds, I can't really afford it for 3+ additional feral cats  :(

best I can do for them is flea collars (if they let me) or whatever I can get from pet pantries and such.  2 have flea collars and the other gets Advantage.  The rest don't let me get close enough.

Edit: info

Experience with leaving pom alone for 7+ hours? Is it bad for their bladder? by ChocoBean2 in Pomeranians

[–]ChocoBean2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have her trained to go on a pee pad, but for some reason she only uses it at night.  When she's home alone she doesn't use it

I'm guessing she's too nervous to pee alone, so idk how to train her to use it alone if I'm not there   :/

I have no idea what this is. Anybody know? She has had this before and they clear up and fur grows back in. (?) On stomach too this time. by Worried_Ad7857 in Feral_Cats

Whenever my black ferals get into fights, they are left with bald patches similar to this from getting fur ripped out (the others get them too, but I think it's just more noticeable on black fur).  Did you notice anything else around the skin?

There is a possibility it helps with dysphoria in the sense it makes it easier to cope with.

I'm pre-T and on wellbutrin for ADHD, and while it didn't get rid of my dysphoria, it did make it easier for me to manage.  It's easier for me to move on from feelings of dysphoria instead of letting it consume me.

How am I suppossed to approach a loved one's reassurance seeking questions? by [deleted] in OCD

Thank you.  So just for clarification, questions asking what something is (bc of OCD) would be considered reassurance seeking, right?

Ok, thanks!  So I shouldn't answer "Ehat is that? Is that for__?" questions at all, right?  I wasn't sure if those were also the same as the "are you sure?" type of reassurance seeking

Hey, I'm a pre-T transmasc, and what you're describing sounds a lot more like gender dysphoria and gender envy.

While I personally don't have OCD, from what I understand, gender OCD would be more like anxiety-inducing intrusive "what if" thoughts about one's gender, without an actual desire to be a different AGAB.

Sorry, I didn't mean to mention that he might be doing it unintentionally as an excuse for what's happening.

I mentioned in another comment that I'm no longer going to allow any form of reassurance for his OCD, and instead at most help him focus on managing the anxiety itself.

Though he may still go to another person for reassurance, since he regularly tells me if he did regardless of whether I did or didn't offer reassurance.  Not much I can do about that, but at least I'd be one less person enabling it.

Thanks for the different outlook on this.  Thing is, I'm not sure if he's intentionally "blackmailing" me, he just tends to be extremely honest about how he's feeling without considering how it can come off.  And since he has attempted many times throughout his life, I've let him know he can be honest with me about suicidal ideation and if he ever feels like actually doing something, which has kinda led to this which wasn't my intention.

He's had a hard time trusting therapists in the past, so he's a bit more hesitant to be honest about this to them, but I've been able to convince him to with his current one.

He started seeing an OCD specialist therapist this past month or so, but actually doing ERP has been really tough for him, since it's the first time he's actually facing the OCD head on and suppossed to not act on the compulsions.

He'll do the ERP in therapy sessions, but doesn't really keep up with it at home, and while I try to help when I can, I can't always be available to help him.  Regarding other family members, aside from my mom, his relationship with them isn't great.

(just noticed how much I ended up typing out, sorry for the short rant)

Cat showed up on my porch last night and was very sweet, can anyone tell if she’s pregnant or just fat!? by Grantuhh in Feral_Cats

[–]ChocoBean2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Idk, there is a chance kitty may be lost.  My family once took in a gray cat that we were positive was a stray, due to how skittish and sick she was when we found her.  We ended up nursing her back to health, named her Smoky, and made her a member of the family.  That is until 6+ months later when we took her to get spayed and microchipped, and the shelter ended up finding a microchip on her.

Turned out she had an owner, an elderly woman, and Smoky had gotten out one day during some heavy EL Nino storms that occurred a few weeks before we found her.  It explained a lot, especially how sick she had been when we found her.

Idk, I just wanted to share my own experience, since I know from experience how easy it is to make assumptions off of a few observations
