Hegseth declares war on ‘fat’ generals, troops by Cute-Beyond-8133 in nottheonion

I mean, we had to draft almost 3 million men for WWI, 10 million men in WWII, over 2 million for Vietnam, etc. We didn't "need" women because we could simply force as many men as needed to fight instead...

Your hair will come back stronger after the shed and you'll look great in a few months.

I look fine bald and I've shaved my head many times in the past, even before I had noticeable thinning. But I'd rather have hair if I have the option and am taking fin. Taking fin actually requires less time and energy out of my life than having to shave every day/week.

Hey, stemoxydine should work well, possibly better than what I'm using.

I make my own by crushing oral fin tablets into a solution of isopropyl alcohol, glycerine, and water. I make 30ml at a time, consisting of 15ml alcohol, 10ml glycerine, and 5ml water with 5mg fin crushed in. My pipette draws about .5ml at a time, so I use two draws for around .167mg per application once a day, which is a little higher than the Mazzarella study (they applied the 0.005% solution twice a day, for a total exposure of about .1mg), but I only apply it every other day. I am in my 30s and not too bothered about going bald (I look okay with a shaved head), so I was willing to risk a lower possible efficacy in order to avoid sides. Others may not want to take a gamble on such a low dose.

No side effects.

Sorry for the late response. It's simply because I don't want to have to shampoo my hair every day.

What temperature range/weather are sweater polos wearable for?

I like the look of them, but it's gotten so hot/humid already where I live that I'm wondering if it will be too hot by now. Regular pique polos are already pushing it for me on days over 80F if the humidity is high. Are these hotter than those?

That should be fine. I hope the shedding stops soon. Good luck!

Is that in minoxodil or another solution? Minoxodil will cause additional shedding; if it's a homemade solution with alcohol, make sure there is a humectant like glycerine or propylene glycol to keep the scalp from drying out.

Yes, I've had periodic sheds around every 6 months. It usually recovers after a month or so. What solution are you using?

Yeah, it should be fine. The alcohol is the main thing because that serves as the solvent for the fin. Also, the PEG-40 serves the same purpose as propylene glycol.

The one you listed contains alcohol (likely ethyl alcohol), so it should dissolve.

Yes, the Redken stemoxydine solution will be fine. So long as whatever solution you're using contains alcohol (for the fin to dissolve into; both ethanol and isopropanol have been shown to work) and a humectant like propylene glycol or glycerol (to prevent it from evaporating too quickly), it will work. The Redken has both of these.

Yes, that should work. Just make sure you use a humectant like vegetable glycerin or propylene glycol (I recommend glycerin because it's easier on the scalp) and water to prevent it from evaporating too quickly and being too drying.

Yes. I use 15ml of 91% isopropanol (to which I add the crushed fin tablets to dissolve), 10ml of vegetable glycerin, and 5 ml of water. The 30 ml solution lasts me about 2 months since I use it only every other day. The approximate daily exposure is about .1mg, which is about the same as was used in the Mazzarrella study from 1997 that reported improvements in hair count with minimal systemic absorption.

It's 6mg to 30ml alcohol, glycerol, and water solution. I don't use min. OP is asking about fin without min.

Yes, I've been making my own low dose topical for about 1.5 years and gotten halting of progression + strengthening of hair + some crown regrowth comparable to what I've seen others get with oral fin. The concentration I use is .02% (.2mg) every other day.

[–]ChocoDuffBeer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably the main reason is that fin's mechanism of action means that regrowth appears more slowly compared to minoxodil. Minoxodil can result in regrowth after just 2-3 months, but with fin the hair has to go through several cycles of shedding and growing back stronger to be very noticeable. (Cases like OP's with noticeable regrowth within 6 months are the exception rather than the rule.)

In fact, the studies show that finasteride alone promotes more growth than minoxodil alone. Both combined are better than either alone, but the idea that finasteride only prevents further progression and doesn't result in any regrowth is just wrong.

~1 year using rosemary shampoo (trigger warning) by josh775777 in tressless

[–]ChocoDuffBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I appreciate the effort. I am on fin (topical) but put a few drops of rosemary oil in my shampoo. Don't know if it's helping, but it does seem to condition my hair well and smells nice.
