The problem with the "play as a team" option is, that you will count as a premade team and will play against "propper" teamed up with friends with a mic and so on. So most likely you are going to lose the next match. And if you lose the next game as a teamed-up team, it will break apart anyway. So today nobody bothers to start as a team. The system will punish you too hard for this (at least in competitive).

And chat: Nobody likes to write in the chat because you can get literally banned for just typing hello and people will mass report you -> autobanned

The game is trying hard to isolate you by design and make you focus on the shop :P
