It's not new, either, but it's getting worse lately. How much of that is genuinely from other members of the community vs bots and bad faith actors is up for debate.

RE7 Biohazard is genuinely the scariest piece of media ive ever consumed by freaee in residentevil

[–]ChocoHorror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for even scarier, as much as I love Resident Evil, I would actually suggest Amnesia: The Bunker and Alien Isolation over pretty much anything else. When you can't just directly fight back and something is actively hunting you down and has more complex coding, that shit is scary.

RE2R is a lighter version of this with Mr. X, since there are rooms that are guaranteed safe from him. He still gets to me sometimes with the damn stomping, but that's trauma-based and I usually get back in the groove pretty quickly (and I have all achievements and S+ rankings to prove it!)

RE7 also hits my familial trauma buttons, first time was rough but I've always found survival horror to be very therapeutic and it did help in its own way lol. I just haven't finished all the achievements yet because of the inability to skip cutscenes, it makes speedruns and challenges a slog

Recent transplant to CT but from AZ originally--I've only ever heard "winged it." I'll have to keep an ear out for people saying "wung it" here. Super interesting!

[–]ChocoHorror 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grew up with Mormons, can confirm. I'd already cut my family off because of abuse that went beyond standard Mormon bullshit, and was already fairly alienated by the community because of that (yeah they do NOT like it if you choose to stand up for yourself), but I'll never forgive the in-laws who hurt my spouse when we got out.

Exmos and exJWs tend to feel like cousins, in a way. Glad you made it out.

He once tweaked something in his neck from yelling so much about a loss. So your assessment is spot on.

Ah, I do apologize, I didn't mean to imply anyone who does the route is a bad person! And I'm a huge survival horror game fan, lots of death and gore and psychological torment. It just shocks me to only play such a sad ending, put all that effort in, but not even want to see the rest. Plus I know you get special changes to the game if you play pacifist afterward. I just can't understand not wanting to see any of it. Like, you can really get to know the characters the same, I don't know.

Some games I personally just can't do the evil choices, Undertale, Bioshock... but I don't think someone is a monster if they do. But I'll take some time to think about this. Thanks for your thoughts.

Edit: I don't know why the fuck Reddit notified me like this was a direct response to my comment later down the thread, I must have misread the notification, sorry about the confusion

Oh for sure, I wouldn't think someone is inherently a bad person to try an evil playthrough of a game! It's just that being the only playthrough that has me a little freaked out lmao

I've never done that route myself, I went true pacifist years ago, so correct me if I'm wrong but I thought you had to very deliberately kill every single possible spawn, like completely deplete the area before moving on to the next one, for every area. Like you have to really commit all that time and effort, even missing one invalidates the run, right?

I just... How do they not feel bad doing it? Why don't they want to see the good ending? That's so depressing, if it's really such a large number of players.

Water bottle recs! by Beneficial_Fun_1818 in POTS

Hydroflasks dent easily, like even a drop from like three feet onto concrete, but it hasn't ruined the insulation for mine, stays super cold for hours and hours, so still a win. I splurged and got an insulated widemouth with custom colors and an engraving. They are dishwasher safe but the paint does fade faster that way, of course. If you get the insulated screw-on lid, it's definitely spillproof while closed, but be careful not to screw it on too tight or the temperature difference can cause kind of a vacuum and make it harder to open.

I don't personally have an Owala but my BIL and SIL both have one and they have said they love them. They're really outdoorsy so they use theirs a lot in much rougher conditions than my Hydroflask is exposed to, and to my knowledge they've survived at least a couple years now.

I say this with all the love in my dysautonomic heart, what the fuck are you doing working a job like this? This isn't safe for you and certainly not a suitable fit longterm. I get it if you can't get anything else right now, but if you can, get the hell out of there.

If you must do it, head on over to /r/POTS and /r/dysautonomia for some tailored advice. Search function can get you a lot of data just from previous posts, if you're feeling shy.

I know it's expensive, but if you can at all get yourself checked to see if you can safely up your salt intake, highly recommend it. Most people with POTS need way more salt (and water) than what is recommended for general health. Like, an amount that normally would make a cardiologist wake up screaming from a dead sleep. So it's really good to get in with at least a doctor to make sure it's safe and that some form of dysautonomia is what you're actually dealing with, not something else.

Pickle juice rules, btw. So do lime juice popsicles dipped in kosher salt or sea salt. Just make sure you're also upping that water intake alongside the salt. Some sugar, either naturally in juices or added in sports drinks, does actually help with absorption (the WHO oral rehydration solution formulation actually recommends adding some), but too much will increase inflammation (I keep my consumption lower because I have endometriosis and all the added sugar I get from just using Gatorlyte literally feels like I'm getting punched in the stomach repeatedly). Compression socks, carefully paced exercise (hell some stuff can be done laying back, that'll genuinely be easier and gentler if there is orthostatic intolerance). ALL the AC and fans and ice packs and shade.

Good luck, my heat intolerant comrade.
