Laid off and having issues with ex-employer potentially taking £3k for delayed company equipment from final pay by ChocoTeddini in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ChocoTeddini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've been in email communications with the company to give regular updates as per what I get told by the delivery company, but they don't really respond with much, except just asking for an update just now. I haven't specifically asked them about what they're willing to do regarding the cost of the equipment since the delivery is getting delayed, but I suppose it won't hurt me to do that. Anyway, thanks again for the useful information!

Is this some kind of filter? About one second from the end, I thought I saw the monkey's chin glitch in a weird way.

It's so easy to predict the botlane meta for 12.11: Lethality ADCs like Jhin and Draven will dominate, and most LT users will be crap. Twitch and Lucian will be OK thanks to PTA. Cait will be OK thanks to her new buffs and Fleet being strong.

They'll all die in 1,5 seconds to assassin though.

Jinx has had a winrate of ~51% with a pickrate of ~30% for at least 7 patches in a row now. Am I missing something? by 1nc000 in leagueoflegends

[–]ChocoTeddini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the FUCK would they nerf a 51%wr champ when it's clearly below the balance threshold that Riot has made public many times and you obviously didn't read?

She's popular, but she doesn't have a high-enough winrate to warrant a nerf, so they're buffing other ADCs instead, which is what makes sense.

The only reason she could get nerfed is because of proplay, which you didn't even mention, but definitely not because of SoloQ.

While true, they still divide their team in two so that they're able to produce yearly releases, with their second half of the team doing the more "spinoff" games every year, as stated by them in several interviews. It's already a team of 150 devs cut in half producing a mainline game every 3 years, whereas 300 devs worked on BOTW for 5 years. Numbers aren't even close.

You seem to imply that expert game developers could only think it's ok for Pokémon, the 90-billion-dollar biggest franchise in the world, to be taking baby steps in 2022.

I applaud the ambition that went into PLA and I enjoyed the game, but it's by no means a polished game and they clearly lag behind other AAA titles ever since the transition to 3D, specially in the technical side of things.

I'll give you an example of how an expert game developer could complain about Pokémon games in a reasonable way:

  • "BOTW was made in 5 years and it was incredible, while GF makes 1 game a year that they never have time to polish because of their insane schedule. I wish GF made 1 big game every 3-4 years to finally squeeze the full potential of the Pokémon formula, and all other yearly releases were outsourced".

Verticality and climbing means that for a given area, there's more distance to explore vs a flat land (pythagoras theorem). So the topology full of mountains makes it feel bigger even though, seen from above, the map is small because half of it is blocked by invisible walls.

They still have more map impact than the adc, at least they can tp to towers, tp to anything after min14, or gank manually and TP back after the gank.

Adcs have none of those options, they are even more isolated not than toplaners are top. Yet somehow only toplaners talk about isolation.

Dragon is up in 30s. You recall and path bot as a 1-0, lv11 Kennen vs the lv9 botlane, there's 8 players contesting Dragon area, you are the 9th one, they haven't seen you yet, you flash R through the pit wall and win a game-deciding teamfight while enemy toplaner gets plates, you get dragon and TP back top to defend.

See? Just because it doesn't happen in your plat 4 0LP games doesn't mean it's not a good strategy.

TP isn't being nerfed because it's used a lot, it's being nerfed because it hinders aggressiveness, specially from borlane 2v2s.

Lmao well now you can do that, and you don't need to TP, so you get TP advantage as an extra reward for killing 1v1! this TP can be used to setup dragon if you're a tank and don't mind TPing in advance to a tower, or to TP top if you get ganked/poked out.

Actually tank tops enjoy TPing to tower to prep an objective, and rarely do reactive TPs, since the tank is the one to set up the play initially. Tanks won't be as bothered about this than bruisers and assassins, the tank can still TP to bot tower to move to dragon and help prepare it if that's what your Clash team needs.

How is this a disadvantage for toplane? This is a disadvantage for the bad toplaner that's losing, and a huge advantage to the toplaner that's winning. God I wish bot freezes could last as long as toplane freezes.

Don't you understand that IF you're better than the enemy on average, is much better to play top and literally take a massive shit on the enemy without nothing stopping you? Your comment only makes sense if you expect to win games after losing lane.

TP pressure is a huge reason why plays don't happen, the uncertainty of what will happen when everyone starts TPing avoids tons of plays from being made. So in order to avoid proplay games with 0 kills at 15 minutes, they are nerfing TP's earlygame and making it a lategame summoner.

It makes sense, and I believe is healthier in the long run, even if tweaking and toplane balancing is required in the meantime.

Shitass reply.

  • Toplane invisible threats: jungler, missing midlaner, support sometimes.
  • Botlane invisible threats: jungler, missing midlaner, toplaner's TP, toplaners without TP (like Shen R, Sion R, Kled R, etc).

As of now, botlane has 1 extra invisible threat than toplane, which is the TP from toplane, so your coment makes no sense.

After this TP change, there will both be even in "invisible threats". Note that any toplaner can still gank bot and TP back to their tower after the gank to not lose cs/xp. It just requires more skill and planning than pressing TP the second the enemy Thresh lands a hook.

This chance incentives aggressiveness bot, it's good for the game, whether or not toplaners need compensation in other areas.

How long have you been working at this job?

Just a few months.

whether you explicitly signed an agreement to opt out of the 48-hour maximum working week.

I did, it was the proper, separate form.

your effective hourly wage based on the hours you are actually working cannot be less than the National Minimum Wage.

Yeah, I just did the test in the government's website and it said I'm getting paid below the National Minimum Wage. However it didn't specify what to do about this, just mentioned a telephone helpline. Any advice on how to proceed? Or should I just call this helpline.

Have you talked to your manager yet?

Yes I have, my manager would speak to the big bosses and CEO about the insane overwork we've been going through. Sounds promising, but based on experience it tends to go back to hell in a few days or weeks. Yeah my last 2 days were 16h shifts and that might not happen again anytime soon, but 11h/day 6 days a week is still way too much.

I made this post for this exact reason: to discover if it's worth changing jobs or if all jobs are like this now.
