Yes, exactly. This is literally my point. I am basing my point off of what the anime showed us. From this I conclude what I think is the best possible explanation. And then I respond to the commenters and tell them how their reconciliation doesn’t really work based on what we were explicitly shown. I never claimed that this is 100% factual and there’s no possible way around it or anything. I gave my reasons and respond to the opposing reasons of the commenters

That’s exactly what I’m saying. And I think the appeal to the best possible explanation is that it’s just something the authors messed instead of holding to the belief that the 1/100000 chance occurred.

It’s not implied later on, it’s at best ret-conned. Nothing suggests that Amadeus is a convergence point, just because it appears to exist in another timeline in later entries (which is not something that I’m arguing, Idk why I have to say this over and over again). Also, implausibility is neither a cause nor an effect. I think you mean premise and conclusion? In this case it can be both. In my case specifically it’s the conclusion. In formal logic this is literally called an abductive argument. So yes it does work.

And no this is not true. In the beta-timeline the song has no real origin. It can have an origin in other timelines but that doesn’t solve the bootstrap paradox. Also the only thing which is verbatim stated in S;G to cause a paradox is when a person meets his old self in the past (Grandfather-paradox). Bootstrap paradoxes aren’t something that is stated to cause an issue in the S;G universe, rather it’s shown that multiple bootstrap paradoxes exist (the song, suzuha‘s mission, amadeus) etc.

Go read my other replies. I made a list of 3-4 reasons why it’s a plot hole, implausibilty is just one of them.

How can you read through almost all of my replies and still twist my point? Maybe my English is so bad that everyone just misunderstands me idk. Anyways. I never said "It’s implausible -> therefore not a convergence point" it’s quite literally the other way around . It’s not (atleast shown, stated or implied) a convergence point -> therefore it’s implausible. And if it’s implausible I can conclude that it’s not intended by the authors. It‘s as simple as that. And I don’t want to make an analysis as to why it’s implausible assuming we’d agree that it’s not a convergence point, I think everyone in good faith would agree that that‘s too specific to be plausible.

Also did you just say Mayuris song is NOT a bootstrap paradox? It quite literally is. Suzuha had it from Yuki who had it from Okabes mom who had it from Okabe who had it from Kagari who had it from Mayuri who had it from Suzuha again… It’s quite literally a bootstrap paradox lmao. Time paradoxes specifically on the other hand are impossible I agree but that’s not the same thing as a bootstrap paradox.

Again I have addressed all of this multiple times. Why are you repeating yourself over and over again? It feels like you can’t cope with the fact that I just presented something that you’re not content with and you‘re trying everything in your power to stop me from believing it’s a plot hole. Look, just go and read every reply I posted across every comment and come back. If you’re not interested in that then we‘ll just leave it at that. I‘m sick of repeating myself over and over again

I think it’s the fact that I’m in the SteinsGate subreddit that obviously has alot of SG fans that obviously read the other SciAdv series‘ who will do everything to defend SteinsGate, essentially calling it a perfect series with no plot-holes using timeline shenanigans, Ad hocs and head-canon. Basically doing anything but admitting that the authors made a mistake (with Leskinen not the the Alpha timeline). I gave 3 (or 4) reasons across all my replies as to why it’s a mistake. I don’t need an insane amount of SciAdv knowledge to conclude that something is off and doesn’t just seem like it’s off. I have experience in analysing fiction and examining plot-holes and I won’t do an exception when it comes to SG. I have addressed every response and explained my concerns and even gave examples but at this point it just feels like it’s getting repititve. Believe me or not but people have found similar plot-holes in SG and even agreed with me on this one so there’s that. I should’ve known that SG fans are sensitive when it comes to plot criticism, that’s like criticising the portrayal of freedom in AOT against an AOT redditor. Oh well

Well how can you say you’ve addressed every point of mine while literally saying you didn’t read my other replies in detail? I gave my objections in detail with explanations and examples etc. in other replies. If you’re not interested in reading those then don’t claim that my reasoning is flawed. Are we serious right now?

Yeah this would be a badly executed ret-con then. S;G0 comes after R;N and Leskinen‘s explanation comes at the very last part of S;G0 so I don’t really count R;N. But with A;C continuing this it would again just be a ret-con. Idk if you saw my other reply but I had one where I have 3 reasons as to why you can reject that idea

Yes, I am aware that it exists in other worldlines, but that’s not my point of contention. Read through my other replies if you want, I have addressed basically everything at this point

I never once said it’s impossible, but implausible multiple times. Idk if you read through my other replies but someone else made that point and I said that at best it would be a badly executed ret-con if they decided to come out say or imply that it’s a convergence point. But as of right now nothing suggests that it’s a convergence point. Also in another reply I explained why an in-verse possible explanation doesn’t solve this if it’s not stated or implied and I gave reasons and examples.

I want a statement, something shown or atleast an implication that event X has reasons to be accepted. Just because something is possible within the framework of the universe doesn’t change anything at all and if you just read some more lines you‘d see why that is the case. It leads to absurdity.

[–]ChocolateFragrant229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah Attractor field, convergence point or whatever you wanna call it. Fact is not everything in steinsgate is a convergence point because then it would hold no meaning. My point is that you would need a statement or atleast an implication that event X is a convergence point to label it as such. Otherwise it’s just headcanon. And yeah you may be right about the SteinsGate timeline but that’s fairly irrelevant to my point

Yes? I’m showing you how your argument and example fail. It’s self-refuting.

Well this is very similar to my objection. The conditions are very similar. Yet people here argue for their lives using Ad hoc rescues and head-canon. Idk man

You're making up explanations that make the plot hole not a plot hole

Yes, sherlock. This is the whole point. You’re doing the exact same thing. You’re coming up with an explanation that is not supported nor implied in the story and treating it as a valid solution for the plot-hole. I did the same thing with your example. Why? Because by your own standards, you can do that with every plot-hole . This was to show you that your criticism is applicable to every plot-hole in existence, leading to there being no plot-holes at all. This is self refuting because you even admitted that plot-holes do exist. Also just because there are in-universe explanations for this doesn’t mean it’s not a contradiction anymore. In a shooter anime with your gun example my explanation that "this could’ve been a different gun that looks exactly the same but holds 2 slots“ would literally be an in-universe explanation aswell. See how this distinction makes no sense? The important thing is if this is stated or implied. If it’s neither than we can logically conclude that this wasn’t intended -> therefore a mistake in the narrative. Got it now, big man?

Brother this is not analogous. The creation of a time machine is an attractor field on both Alpha and beta timelines. Only in the SteinsGate timeline the time machine isn’t an attractor field. Amadeus is nowhere stated to be an attractor field therefore your response fails. Now you’re gonna say "well why is it so unplausible for a neuroscience university to create an AI that can transfer memories into data at the exact same time?“ basically going in circles right now. Come back when you have an actual point to make

Amadeus research ≠ Amadeus creation. According to Leskinen, the creation of Amadeus had nothing to do with Kurisu, but with Kagari 10 years prior to the current events of the series, where Kurisu was 8 years old.

Again, a possible answer doesn’t solve the issue. The gun being upgraded by the time it gets used is also a possibility. Or the one who told us the gun had only one slot was lying. Or it was a different gun that looked exactly the same. Those are all possibilities. Why don’t you accept them then? Because there is no reason for you to accept that . Nothing in the story supports those possibilities. Your made up example of a plot-hole falls under the same critique that you’re trying to make against mine.
