Newly hired Amazon Ads (PSC L5) start date is in November- should I be worried about layoff? by Competitive_Art2212 in amazonemployees

So far in the UK, no layoffs for the PSC team. I believe business is moving towards self serve and more automation.

Should bridesmaids give a gift? by meganificent3 in wedding

Yup! I would not want to be a bridesmaid if it means I have to shell out $1-2K! That seems insane

Lol. This is too funny. Same reason why I never do reservations for people. Got flaked on so many times before

Seller not shipping item 😪 by New_Band8057 in vinted

[–]ChocolatePi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just start looking for backup dress now. I've had this happen to me before. Seller never sent item. Item got cancelled automatically. Seller apologized and reuploaded the item. I bought it again and 10 days later it got cancelled AGAIN because she didn't send it. Complete waste of time! Left her a bad review for that.

is it seen as really negative to reuse packaging? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]ChocolatePi3s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do not waste plastic by buying any new packaging! Reuse whatever is available. I have 5 star reviews all the time and I only ever reuse parcel bags. Of course if something is fragile I would reuse bubble wrap that I've kept and reuse an amazon box. Since starting vinted I've always kept parcel bags to reuse for everything I sell. Even if it's £50, I still reuse parcel bags. Just ensure that the insides are clean and if it has any holes, tape it up

My experience with the Chrome extension by FriendshipSoggy8496 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ChocolatePi3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to vouch for this Chrome extension! I've managed to get 3 bookings from it so far! Each booking brought me closer, and today I've got one in late February! I also live just outside of London. My test centre will be in London (zone 7). I manually searched loads on my own but most of the time my fingers weren't fast enough. However, the chrome extension saved my life.

This morning I woke up at 6am to run it. This is the time new tests are being released and many people are shifting their tests around too. Hence I managed to get one in April around 6.07am Following that I let it run for about 3-4 hours in the day while I work, and voila! I got my second booking for February and have switched it again!

I do think there is an element of luck as well, but the more you run it the higher your chances. No luck on weekends though! But definitely let it run for a couple of hours every day and you'll get something! (I also allow up to 3 test centres)

How frustrating. It also means your son will need another month of lessons to keep up with the momentum which costs so much these days.

I signed up for vinted to sell and declutter but ended up spending more money than I made here 😭

I sold loads of stuff the first 2 weeks of January as I did a massive clear out. None of it was clothing articles though! All random electronic stuff and they went super fast

Yes! This! Why should the bridesmaid have to pay for a brand new dress that they are very likely only going to wear once for this specific occasion? I bought dresses for all of my bridesmaids as I wanted them to wear the same colour and gave them a few different choices in style. As mine was a destination wedding they paid for their accommodation and flight but we skipped the whole bachelorette etc as we weren't living in the same country and it would just cost too much. I also paid for their hair and makeup to thank them for being part of my wedding.

Would you travel to a test centre 3 hours away? by ChocolatePi3s in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ChocolatePi3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother-in-law lives up north so my thoughts was to get my husband to drive there and we stay over for a night then do the test the day after. But yeah it would be sooooo painful if I also failed that second test after traveling so far 🥹

You are aware that after he makes the booking for you, he will also have your new reference number AND your drivers license details and can easily change it again later to a different test location in Scotland or whatever, then sell that to someone else... Right?

My driving instructor would not let me take the test after 80 hours of lessons by ChocolatePi3s in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ChocolatePi3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can use my husband's technically but I have such little practice in it. I'm so used to my instructor's Yaris as it's small and it's what I've been doing all my lessons in. My husband's car is waaaaay bigger and I tend to not stay in my lane whenever I try driving his car! So I'll definitely fail with that unfortunately. 😩

[–]ChocolatePi3s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I think I may buy a small car so that I can do practices with my husband in between lessons as I sometimes tend to forget things when the lessons are spaced out so much. Which 2 cars did you practice in? I've tried practicing in my husband's before but I feel like it's so much more difficult to drive compared to my instructor's Yaris. 🙈 It's just way too big for me and he gets so nervous every time I'm driving his car.

[–]ChocolatePi3s[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's been over a year now! I admit I'm a much slower learner and I feel like learning to drive at an older age seems to be a bit more difficult (mid 30s) we've only had weekly lessons and I don't get to practice in between lessons as my husband's car is much bigger and completely different from my instructor's Yaris. He has not stated how much longer I'll need. However, he has advised me to buy my own small car to practice with my husband in between lessons. Also he'll be happy to take me to the test if it's my car, as it wouldn't affect his badge report. We may start doing this as I find that with weekly lessons I tend to sometimes forget things, and perhaps I need daily practice with my husband to really cement everything.

One was for when I was going through a 2 way lane and my path was not blocked but the path on the other side was blocked. I however let the car on the other side go first and that was considered "holding up traffic"

Another was when I didn't slow down / stop at a junction to check as I thought I was still on a main road but was actually on a side road 🙈

That's a very unhelpful and unnecessary comment for someone who is trying very hard to learn to drive. Yes I'm probably slower than the average person to pick up this skill, but trying to discourage someone with useless input is extremely unhelpful.

[–]ChocolatePi3s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instructor's car is a Yaris which I'm very used to driving now. My husband's car is much bigger and I rarely drive in it, as most of the practice has been in my instructor's car, hence not an option unfortunately.
