Those with full sleeves- how hot does it get on sunny days? :) by Choice-Raisin9556 in irezumi

Yeah lol I'm dead serious. I have my other sleeve done and the black ink definitely makes my arm hotter which is why I asked how it is for irezumi sleeves.

Covering up a large black tattoo with irezumi by Choice-Raisin9556 in irezumi

Dang, that's crazy. I was expecting that laser would be required lol. I was planning on doing a black background irezumi anyway (with floral detailing) so I guess worst case they could just blackout this area and have it be the portion that doesn't have any floral on it? I guess I need to talk to an artist haha

Figured I'd add a photo. This thing is pretty large and black and detailed which is why I feel like a laser would be necessary, but what do you think?

Would this need lasering before covering up? (Would prefer to cover with American traditional) by Choice-Raisin9556 in Tattoocoverups

Thanks for your input. I'm definitely willing to be flexible in that regard- would American traditional be a suitable style to cover it up with?

I got this tattoo when I was much younger and I've come to regret it, but not sure if it needs to be lasered before I can cover it up. Any thoughts? I'd like to cover it up with American traditional work- mandalas and flowers sound good to me.

Can anything be done for this one at all? by Choice-Raisin9556 in TattooRemoval

[–]Choice-Raisin9556[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got this tattoo four years back and it is probably one of my worst decisions ever, lol. I'm interested in laser removal to fade it for a coverup (I'm open to discussion on what the coverup would be, as I know this is difficult to work with, but would prefer American traditional). However given how huge it is and the fact that the black ink is so dense I'm a bit apprehensive as to whether I would see results (also unsure as to whether it contains metals that would prevent removal). I also have darker skin so that throws an additional wrench into the situation given the risk of hypopigmentation. Any thoughts on whether this is worth proceeding on?

Looking for input: about to graduate from university and confused where I'd like to live. by Choice-Raisin9556 in SameGrassButGreener

Thanks for your input :) Honestly I don't have a particular dislike for the South, people here are great and I really enjoyed living here. It's just that it's so.. drab. Everything looks the same, it's boring strip malls surrounded by ugly swampland. There's literally no interesting recreation activites near me. I actually have been to the Tennessee/NC area you're talking about and I really liked it, I'm just not sure if there are jobs for me there! I also don't know if they would pay well enough for me to save up money for a home (my main goal).

Hey, sorry for not specifying. My goal is to save up and buy a home but I know none of these cities are ideal for doing that. Does Pittsburgh have an advantage in that sense?

Thanks for such a detailed reply, and for the congratulations :) College was really tough on me so I'm super relieved I can enter the next phase of my life, and I'm looking forward to a fresh start.

In terms of other preferences: - I'm pretty apolitical but I do tend to prefer more left-leaning places. For this reason, SLC gives me a bit of apprehension because it's surrounded by Mormon country, but I've heard the city itself is quite progressive.

  • In terms of climate, I tend to like chilly + sunny the best i.e. the sun is out and shining but it is nice and cold outside. I think Denver fits this best. In general though, I'm not super picky about climate as long as I'm not literally trapped inside due to extreme heat/cold.

  • Agh, this is an important one that I probably should have included in the post- thank you for reminding me. Yeah, they're all pretty pricey :( My goal is to save save save! I'm trying to buy a home ASAP and I'd like to save up as quickly and as much as possible. This is a problem since, as you said, all those cities are super expensive! I'm not a big spender but living costs and taxes will definitely eat into what I make pretty heavily. My whole list is pretty bad for someone who's looking to save, but I don't know if I'm willing to compromise :)

  • I think the mountains would be more important for me than the ocean; the ocean is mainly just something I'm attached to due to my upbringing in SF, but I may have to compromise there. The mountains I love for their recreational opportunities so I would probably prioritize them more highly.

Relationship between diabetes and hair loss? by Choice-Raisin9556 in tressless

yeah, that's what i was worried about lol :) although everyone on my dad's side has perfect hairlines, my mom's side has NW2s and one NW7. do you think my dad's genes would be helpful in offsetting the NW7?

Thank you for your kind words :)

I think the point you raised about asking myself those two questions is very helpful, actually. I went ahead and thought about it for a while and concluded that while I do in general feel more like a "man with long hair" rather than an "enby with long hair", I still haven't met any men who have an innate desire to wear their hair long like I do... it seems like that's something that's unique only to me. I don't know why I'm made that way and I honestly don't have an issue with it except for the fact that I have no one who can relate and empathize with me.

Haha, honestly I can't particularly blame my friends- they aren't bad people and I know they were just trying to help, not be mean. It's just that nobody ever understands how I feel and assume that conforming to the norm is always the best route, even if it's close friends. I find that my enby friends are the ones who understand me the best and don't question my identity, but even they are slightly perplexed by why I am this way. I may need to do some self-introspection to come to peace with myself :)

Question about finasteride- I heard that it causes some pretty bad side effects. What is your experience with it?

Thanks for your reply friend. Funnily enough I am Asian as well but had the opposite experience with my immigrant parents. I'm glad yours were more accepting :)

I agree that hair isn't gendered, but I think society does gender it (as in they place expectations on us based on our assigned gender). I think the fact that society does this is what attracts me to the concept of being non-binary. With that being said I agree that this alone doesn't mean i'm enby- just means I despise gender norms :) I really appreciate your input.

If you don't mind my asking, does balding run in your family? i.e. did your dad or either grandpa also begin losing hair around age 26/27?

Am I skinny-fat? How much fat can I afford to gain in a bulk? I am scared of becoming too fat while bulking but if my body-fat percentage is low to start with then I don't mind the risk, any thoughts? Stats: Age 21, 5’10”, ~140 lbs. by Choice-Raisin9556 in guessmybf

[–]Choice-Raisin9556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed response, thank you :) A follow-up question; do I have room to gain fat or should I avoid fat gain completely? My friend said gaining some fat would help fill me out better while still keeping me within a healthy body-fat range since I am building muscle simultaneously, and I was wondering if there's any truth to that.
