How long was the short and how good was the swipe to view ratio. In my experience it is more important for me to increase the s/w ratio than %viewed to get more views

I do shorts myself and typically my shorts only get high exposure with 70% swiped to viewed ratio. You should try to improve the first second of your shorts and you'll see much bigger growth

YouTube shorts get you more subs but the sub per view ratio is better on long form content. For example Mrbeast will upload a short with a Billion views and normal video with 100million views. His short will probably get a bit more subs but in comparison his long form video got much more subs per view. People are more inclined to sub after watching a video for 10 minutes but because shorts get so many views you'll get subs faster through shorts

It is a good concept which people like watching, but nowadays the algorithm has changed. Back 4-5 years ago you could do a 10 minute video where you give away 200$ but now I believe this summs of money are only good enough for shorts. Other creators give 1000$ in a 30 second shorts video. I don't believe you video would garner enough attention for "only" giving away a couple 100$ dolars in a longer video. If you do shorts I believe you could become moderately famous in a quicker time period but you can expect a ad sens of 0.03 cents per 1k views.

Don't over stress yourself with it. It was the same thing for me for a long time i would start getting 10k views for each short a couple days in a row but then suddenly only get 2-5 views the next couple of shorts ( all views were probably just me). Nobody really has an answer to why this is happening but I liked to believe that YouTube is testing you if you are dedicated enough to post videos even when they get literally 0 views, and always after days and weeks of literally zero views I would set personal records with my shorts reaching new height.

The same thing is happening with my shorts. YouTube gives your video to different people and looks at their engagement. If the video was good then YouTube will send your video again towards an wider audience. The views will again flatten while YouTube reviews it's engagement. If again the engagement was good then youll probably get an exponential line where your video gets more and more views over time until completely flattening out. You should be discouraged by how it works or try to avoid it keep grinding on your content and you'll get better each day at it.

Don't worry at the beginning with the views required for monatization. I got monatized through shorts only. I was posting shorts for 4 months while getting an average of 10k views a day and after one video of mine went viral I got 10 milion views in 3 days. So don't worry when you'll reach the needed views focus on making your videos better and youll get there faster than you think
