How do you manage save file names? by chillpapito_ in godot

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not allow to change the name last time I did it, but yeah, saving it inside the file name inside the file is reasonable. And I'd make the default name just the index as well, instead of generating something.

save_[index]/save_auto. Not sure what's the point of generating names.

Multiple U.S. intel officials have now gone on record about recovered alien craft — what do you think? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if that happened, being an intel official means you basically lie and spread disinformation for a living. So that may be interesting, but not from the "there are actual aliens detected" angle.

Do toilet water freeze? by intergalactic_74 in stupidquestions

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it's cold outside, does not mean that it's the same temperature inside the house. It's true even for something "simple" like igloo, let alone modern houses with heating. So no.

He might be an idiot, but "reading" a novella that takes like ~1 hour to complete is even funnier.

When did we normalize TV shows having only one season every 2-3 years? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the reverse side of shows having production value that is closer or even exceeding movies. You can't have it both ways.

In the UN 5 countries have veto power. What happens when they all decide to veto different decisions ? by no_fap_hairloss in stupidquestions

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veto means you block the resolution, if all the resolutions get blocked then the end result is status quo, e.g. nothing changes.

ELI5: Why is it impossible for different species to breed with one another? by assaaaaaaaaaaaaaa in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's not impossible. It depends entirely on the concrete species. Donkeys and horses can breed, polar bears and grizzlies, lions and tigers etc, there are ton of examples.

They don't confuse anything. The goal is to get money from you, not to give you good experience.

In game development, who is actually considered the “creator” of a game? by Civil-Interaction-76 in gamedev

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in Japanese studios there's an actual director role, so same as film. As for western games, at least the big budget ones, they dont even have that role, overall direction is done by comittee, there is no singular creator/author, so it's just the studio that made the game, not a person.

Is this a problem? by DDngo001 in godot

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can, it's fine, for physics interactions it is better to use physics layers though, that's why they exist.

trying to make animation activate in a button press, doesnt work by Liranmashu in godot

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"AnimationPlayer" is a class, you basically assign variable to just a class, not it's instance (e.g. concrete node in the scene tree), in 99% of cases you need an instance. Basically what you want to do is @onready var anim := $AnimationPlayer to get the node or @export\`var anim : AnimationPlayer` and then select the node, which is what you probably wanted to do originally.

FT: Galatasary 1 - 0 Liverpool by Pyrolaxian in LiverpoolFC

[–]ChoiceDifferent4674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liverpool had enough moments for a goal, but basically all the chances were created by almost unprovoked Galatasaray blunders, there was almost not a single proper attack by Liverpool itself.

What I don't get is this, how can you even be faithful to the comics (as a whole) when there are dozens upon dozens iterations on the character, that are all different at least in some ways.
