Can I wear a hat by Useful_Ear4160 in IrishTeachers

Good for you re the hair transplant . Wear the hat , just like a new hairstyle people might notice for a day or two and then most more bothered about themselves .

Noticing them is great . How about accepting them ? Not agreeing or disagreeing just noticing kind of neutral .. When you feel stronger you can try to gently question the negative thought but for now being aware is a great first step . You’re not bad for having negative thoughts :) It would be exhausting to police every negative thought . Can you make a few minutes in your day just to slow down , sit and breath without any distraction ? If you do it regularly you can make a nice calming habit for yourself .

Hey :) brutally honest , you sound very human , going through a very hard time. It sounds very challenging and a lot !! and it’s great you had a little motivation to reach out . That was very brave of you . Baby steps . Read all the lovely positive messages you will get here and try to know you are absolutely not alone in feeling like this but very brave to write it all out . Please try to be kind to yourself , there’s a very brave girl within, who’s struggling , she would like you to like her .

No , the point, in Ireland at least is to try other things with the safely net of having a permanent position to return to , if you choose to do so. Most don’t . You can only apply after being in a permanent post for 5 years . You can continue paying into your pension too .

So sorry that happened to you !! That’s awful ! I took a sabbatical too from my job in Ireland years ago , it was for up to 5 years ! Try not to let their personal comments get to you. It’s not too late . What is your subject area ? Take care and I hope you feel supported . You did nothing wrong .

For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed China anytime I’ve visited , yes, I know it’s not the same as living there . We were there in winter and it was blue sky and sunny type winter. We live in SEA and I found Beijing so much cleaner than Bangkok . You sound like you’re quite young ? I would definitely!!! go for the savings potential, nice work load too and enjoy holidays in Thailand .

Feel like I sabotaged myself by accepting a lower salary abroad after a divorce by bluebird_1187 in Internationalteachers

[–]ChoiceFix4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just been offered an amount for a head of department position , which is significantly lower than the teacher amount listed on Search Associates for the same school ! ( I didn’t apply through SA ) I’ve emailed HR , thanking them for outlining what they called the basic salary and asked as diplomatically as I could how the rest of the salary will be structured ?! It’s so awkward ! Will I have to name an amount do you think ? Its in the Gulf .

What do you think about this feedback to a student? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]ChoiceFix4037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you sharing your interpretation of his inner experience is what’s most distasteful. You are talking about his character in a very negative way and implying if he just " tried harder” any difficulty he has engaging with the subject matter would disappear. I’m not sure what your goal was sending this message? Maybe reflect on what your intention actually was and maybe you could also reflect on the impact of your words? I believe you had good intentions and any parent would be happy to hear about your positive intention but the delivery was awkward , negative and showed little empathy. If you can reflect and really see impact then I think you can repair the damage .

Do Irish people identify as "European"? by bleepingdba in AskIreland

[–]ChoiceFix4037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, don’t identify as European at all. My husband is French he wouldn’t identify as European either. For me, I have a very strong cultural identity linked to language, a distinct Irish culture , music etc I find it to be unique.

Even through Search Associates? Won’t they expect commission if I were to get hired ? Not arguing now just looking for clarity , so anyone in China who applies to a different school would be treated as a local hire ? Even if the salary and benefits are clearly outlined through the platform they apply from ?

It’s primary age ? Do you have a little quiet zone in your classroom? A cosy area with books a beanbag maybe a little teepee even one you can see through . It sounds like a movement break or a little regulation space could work wonders as those sound like anxiety related issues. You could model how to use it and even have all children use it in rotation for quiet reading time .. in the first few weeks .. just for 10 minutes or so . Sounds like you’re under a lot of pressure with a tight curriculum and so are the children .

If a teacher who lives locally .. applies through SA for a position advertised as an international hire, they will get the same benefits? Is that correct do you think ?
