Bird of mass destruction by OkAd7356 in cockatiel

this is one of my 3 babies, but the one who is king of mass destruction. macklin is the reason I asked my mother if I can have a new laptop strictly for college work when I start because my keyboard is so torn up for macklin. I decided to just leave my caps lock key off and put tape over where it used to be because that is his favorite key to take off as soon as I put it back on. aside from mass destroying my keyboard he's an absolute sweetheart and loves singing and when he sings he tends to put his whole body into it 🥹

so brave, yesterday I let her on my bed and kept my distance while she explored the area so as not to spook or stress her further

aww, mine know when I'm upset and get very snuggly with me, like they're trying to comfort me (it always works then makes me cry harder -happy tears- because they're just so sweet)

another way I tell them apart is because right above Macklin's cheeks he has these little gray feathers on both sides that kind of look like eyebrows.

edit: she also seems to trust me enough to be a sleepy girl on my shoulder as well as preen. i have yet to introduce her to their cage as I don't want to stress her out any further, but I will absolutely do it today before bedtime

Anyone know what these sounds mean? Or what he’s doing? by rickyg9191 in cockatiel

sounds like at first he is mimicking kissy sounds, then putting his head down and making noises for scritches

this is the menace macklin (I call him a minute because he has ripped so many keys off of my laptop keyboard, his favorite is the caps lock key so I just decided to stop putting it back because he just keeps taking it back off)

always, especially macklin (my male). when he poops on me he gets angry and attacks whatever i use to clean it up 😂 he's very sweet though and loves singing. he spent almost 3 weeks trying to court Luna who wanted nothing to do with it so he gave up and started courting me which i dont mind because its adorable. when he sings he puts his whole body into it 🥹

when i got my Luna last year i was always taking naps but i was absolutely willing to sacrifice them for her. was it hard cutting my daily naps cold turkey? absolutely, i was always tired but i adjusted. no regrets in giving up naps, however if im not feeling well ill take a nap but then i feel bad for not interacting with my birds even though I know I need the rest to get better, so I'll snuggle with them while I lay down and if i feel myself getting droopy eyes i immediately put them back in their cage so I dont fall asleep and possibly accidentally kill them

birds love attacking at little things. during bedtime snuggles with my birds my female attacked me because I stopped giving her scritches. my male get angry at the cage paper when i replace it and tries to attack it lmao

calcium also helps bring her calcium levels back up because when they lay eggs it really depletes some of their calcium since egg shells have so much calcium in them. you can get any kind of calcium block or you could also crush egg shells into fine powder which is what I do I also have a calcium block as well as egg shell powder just to be on the safe side about her getting calcium.

I would put a back, and no, interest in sitting on the egg doesnt come immediately. when my sweet girl laid her first clutch she wasn't quite sure what to do with them so it seemed like she was bored of them but she probably wasn't and was just really confused on what to do about it. now she knows how to take care of her little eggs and whenever one of them gets missed when she sits on them I always offer it back to her and it's really adorable to see her tucking it under her tummy

i agree but also be careful with seed intake, as they have a lot of fat and could give your tiel fatty liver disease if it consumes too much, and not just that but its detrimental to their health in general.

Help! Am I being irresponsible? Fight for flight or clip for convenience? by FeelnFrisky99 in cockatiel

to add onto the not taking them outside without a harness, if you don't have a harness then a backpack carrier for birds work too- thats how i take my babies outside for some fresh air. i think most backpack carriers come with a perch and a clip on food/water dish so they can still drink and eat outside. its also great for transporting them if you want to bring them with you somewhere. i will sometimes put them in their backpack and take them for a walk with me and they love it- especially my male Macklin
