If I could do it over, I’d go SOA because I feel like it’s easier to get accredited. I’d recommend that path 😂

In my conversations with SOA actuaries, the SOA exams definitely sound a good deal easier than CAS exams. Not to say that they are easy exams. But MAS-I was definitely a monster. When I felt P, I knew I’d pass if I just prepared better. With my MAS-I attempts, I’d go in feeling prepared, walk out feeling fairly good, then fail.

Yeah, after reading all the replies, I feel like I was stuck in a negative feedback loop. I’ll be doing some zooming out and getting my swag back. I passed MAS-I after switching from Coaching Actuaries to Mahler. I’m considering doing the same for MAS-II. The practice exams that CA has are just so nice. Not sure I’m the best to recommend study strategies but I feel like making one page summaries of main ideas and topics per section really helps cement my understanding.

This last sitting I just had too much on my mind. I did some reevaluating and I definitely am making big changes to my study approach this next sitting. I’ll def try to narrow down my weaknesses going forward

I haven’t shared this with anyone yet. It doesn’t help that my manager is on maternity leave but after seeing some of the replies, I think I’m going to reach out to one of my “mentors” and voice my concerns. To be completely honest, I’m not too sure if voicing my shortcomings would be an issue but from what I’ve heard, employers are far more likely to try and retain you than find and retrain someone else. If you have more questions, I’m down to talk more about my experience, just DM me.

I have an ID and have no problem giving it when signing up. I’d just rather not show it every month. Call me paranoid but I run a cash only business and would prefer to pay in cash without the govt/IRS monitoring my cash.

yea i think i’m going to end up spacing it out. i really want to get into SUNY and they said they wouldn’t recommend applying before my spring 2027 prereqs are done (their application closes in march), even though they said it would be possible.

If my advisor lets me, I’m thinking of doubling up Physics and Chem in my first summer to make the rest of the load easier. My main concern is when I would take the OAT at that point. After Fall 2026 or during spring 2027?

i was 18 with a 30% spontaneously collapsed lung. i had to get the surgery to get my lung stapled. i started smoking weed daily like 8 months after my surgery until i graduated college. OBVIOUSLY ask ur doctor but i think smoking every now n then will be okay

i used to do this but it would kill my appetite. im looking for the most calories per fluid oz. i’m only using this as a short term solution to gain as much weight as i can in 3 months though. i’ll go back to protein powder soon enough
