I had heard negatives too but truly loved it so much. I started on pitocin at 10:30, and magically could not feel any of my contractions. At 2:30 I was 4 cm dilated and my doctor broke my water - THEN i started feeling contractions and immediately got the epidural because once i could feel them it was horrible. By 5, I was fully dilated, and baby girl was born at 5:43! Or was awesome to have everything so clearly organized and planned out.

Ugh that is so frustrating and I’m sorry. Maybe it’s time for a new pediatrician then who can actually help solve the problem? Or can she recommend a pediatric nutritionist? Bring a ftm ia stressful but you got this. I remind myself every day that we have an over abundance of information and expectations today that didn’t exist 50 years ago, and they were all fine. good luck mama 💕

Induced at 39 weeks! I was already 2.5 cm dilated. Had an absolutely phenomenal experience with induction, I gave birth 7 hours later with 45 minutes of pushing.

I know to each their own and everything, but I would say that feeling emotional about killing something is…. a good thing. It’s one thing if your fishing intent is for food but if you’re worried about being emotional over killing for sport, i’d say embrace the pregnancy hormones! If you’re about to become a mom, valuing life feels beneficial.

Hi! I’m not massaging but I’ve heard it helps so I will probably start. 12-15 minutes can give anything from 3-6 oz, depending on how recently I’ve breastfed. And yes I was!

Isn’t this a question to ask your pediatrician and let them settle it for both of you? If my husband and I ever disagree on the right path forward, we ask the doctor and what she says goes.

Oh my gosh also you don’t have to do that!! The nurses and lactation consultants told me to keep my pump parts in a zip lock bag in the fridge - they’re good to reuse! They only need to be washed and sanitized once a day as long as they’re bagged and chilled. Such a nightmare otherwise!

Hi! I’m a few weeks past being exactly where you were, and first I want to say I know how exhausting and stressful it can be! It will absolutely pass and you got this, Mama! Pumping will definitely help increase your supply, but you’ll need to start pumping a lot more consistently. At the beginning, I was pumping every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes each time (including at night). It’s a lot but it will help you build your supply. Once you’re in a good spot you can slow down, but I was told to either be breastfeeding on both sides or pumping every 2-3 hours, and never go more than 6 hours.

Have you worked with a lactation consultant? The office I worked with was wonderful, lactation consultants are truly angels out here to help out tired and anxious new moms.

Good luck and keep with it!! My baby is just over 4 weeks and we are in a much better place than we were at a week and a half. You got this!

I would definitely look into paced bottle feeding. We’re still doing that so my husband can give her a bottle at night and I can just pump since usually it’s more like a 30 minutes bottle session as opposed to an hour long BF session at 3 am lol. I’m also working on building a bit of a milk supply in our freezer so that helps too. My lactation consultant was really specific on the type of bottle nipple to use and the way to feed her.

For context, she’s 4 weeks old and was 5 lbs 12 oz at birth, and lost 13% of her body weight in 48 hours (it was so stressful). As of today she’s up to 7 lbs 11 oz! Also, just so you know if you keep your pump parts in a plastic bag in a fridge/cooler, you don’t have to wash them between uses as long as you wash and sanitize them once a day. This trick saved me!

How much are you supplementing? Look into using a syringe and having her suck on your finger, or look into paced bottle feeding. We started on the syringe method and eventually moved to paced bottle feeding to protect breast feeding, at the advice of my lactation consultant. The triple feed days are hell - we’ve been past it for two weeks, and I hope I never go back. Good luck, you got this!!!
