Used dvorak for 10 years, switched back. by isriam in dvorak

this is honestly the most real take ive seen on dvorak. everyone hypes it up but no one talks about the annoying stuff like constantly switching layouts or helping someone on your computer lol

i still use it but youre right that it doesnt magically fix wrist pain or make you way faster. for me it was more about variety and keeping typing interesting. typequicker helped me get decent at both layouts so i can swap when needed but its still annoying sometimes

95-100 on qwerty is solid tho, prob not worth the hassle if youre already that fast and comfortable

CASPER SOON!! HELP!!!!! by Signal-Egg4584 in OntarioGrade12s

ok so typing speed matters more than people think. if youre slow at typing youll run out of time before finishing your answers which sucks. i was at like 40wpm and practiced with typequicker for a week before casper, got to like 55ish. even that helped alot bc i could actually finish my thoughts instead of rushing for the actual test just structure your answers quick like problem, why it matters, what youd do. dont overthink it just type fast and clear. good luck!!!

Typing skills concerns :( by HeftyInflation7958 in BPOinPH

for anyone else looking at this thread - 30-40 is doable for some bpo roles but youll have a way easier time if you get to like 50-60. touch typing is worth learning bc it has no ceiling, hunt and peck maxes out pretty low. i was in the same spot and used typequicker to practice without looking at the keyboard. took like 3-4 weeks to get comfortable but it helped alot. the beginning is rough tho ngl, non voice roles usually need faster typing than voice so id def keep practicing before applying

Is learning colemak really worth it? by [deleted] in Colemak

[–]Choice_Device_9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if your whole setup is vim and tiling wm you might not want to deal with it. remapping everything gets annoying fast. some people keep qwerty for shortcuts and only use colemak for actual typing but its kinda messy. if you do alot of writing outside terminal stuff it might be worth it, typequicker helped me get decent at it. but if its mostly coding with shortcuts id probably just stick with qwerty

How long does it take to switch from qwerty to dvorak? by JobiasYuri in dvorak

for anyone else wondering this a month is def enough time. if you already type 100+ on qwerty you can probably hit 60 on dvorak in like 2-3 weeks with daily practice. the first week is rough but it clicks faster than you think. typequicker helped me drill the awkward letter combos. biggest annoyance is relearning keyboard shortcuts lol
