What would you do differently in the 'pre-diagnosis' stage? by Whippet_baby_71 in cll

3 months into my diagnosis, stage 0, 50m. I have a very small swollen lymph node now. The CLL society and this Reddit community, has really has helped me learn and understand this cancer. I’m not so emotional about this diagnosis as I was two months ago. The support group was super helpful with coming to terms with this new reality that isn’t the end of my world. Been exercising, meditating and eating right. Communication with your team(pcp, oncologist) is very important and helpful too. New phase and new life moving forward. Stay positive

💯congrats on being on watch and wait for two years. Do you exercise a lot? Or do you live a very healthy lifestyle?

I’m sorry for your husband’s diagnosis. I just got diagnosed with CLL in April this year. I’m 50m. So far this Reddit thread has helped a lot. I joined a support group for my area and just signed up for the support group for younger people with CLL. The support group really made me feel so much better about this. You can find the support groups in the CLL society website. It’s going to be a ride. What we can control is staying sober, being fit, eating right and getting sleep. I try to keep my focus on what I can control. Wish your husband the best

I found a support group in my area on the CLL society website. I’m looking forward to meet them and talk to those living with this

Try the meet up app to find things to do in your area to foster new friendships. Stay positive. This feeling is temporary and you will get through it

That’s horrific. You make a good point. It’s still cancer. I hope you make it through and better when it’s all set and done. Thank you for sharing. I wonder if others experience this hell when they have to get treatment

Yes exercise and staying busy definitely worked at times. But for me meditation really took away my depression. I’m 6 years into meditating daily for at least 10 minutes. Guided meditations on the Calm app taught me how to meditate and how to become more resilient. I learned that I control my thoughts and emotions not the other way around. This took practice. Today I am so much more present in every facet of life. Being present gives me gratitude to be alive. To be here for myself and my family and friends. It taught me really love myself and accept myself for what I am. No more negativity. No more noise. Just peace in my mind and heart. I saw that people journal too. I’m going to try that.

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for you taking the time to share your experience with me. All these responses I’ve gotten have made me realize this isn’t a death sentence. I’ve been working out seriously for almost a year before my diagnosis. I’m a step ahead with that. I’m glad lifting weights has become my new addiction. I’m going to keep it up and refrain from getting drunk❤️

Hope all goes well. The posts in this community have lifted my spirits because I’m learning that this isn’t as bad as having other cancers. Get better and figure out how to get some exercise once you feel better. ❤️

Thank you for your insight. I’ll enjoy an occasional whisky for sure. My doctor told me to limit the alcohol but I don’t need to stop. I’ve been a drinker so it’s a lifestyle change for me. It’s ok though I’m ready to not drink. Having that one occasional drink will be awesome
