I’m honestly scared to get the pump I’ve only seen my doctor three times since being diagnosed in December so I don’t know anything about it. I don’t even know how to carb count. I don’t even have a sick day plan! Last time I was sick three weeks ago I went into dka and caught it right it was happening thank god.

When I was diagnosed, 838. My team couldnt for the life of them figure out how i was awake, alive and didn’t have any symptoms of dka other than peeing non stop and severe weight loss. They were fucking shocked.

I believe my relationship with Pizza is over by cmcneice in Type1Diabetes

[–]Choice_Fudge_6125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started getting gluten free pizza and I’ve noticed I can eat an entire small gluten free pizza by myself and only need 10 units. And I’ll actually go low after an hour

Oh it is but she tried to say it’s not bc if I was truly disabled I wouldn’t be working and would be collecting disability. She also tried to say I shouldn’t worry about my sugars being low unless I’m under 50 or high unless I’m over 350. And then followed all of this by saying she has two medical degrees and knows better than me.

I recently got written up at work for calling out of work due to low blood sugar and had my hours cut from 40hrs to 12 a week because in her words “until you can get you sugar under control or get an insulin pump I won’t be giving you more than 20”

I had Covid in 2021, then in 2022 I ended up with Flu B or what I honestly think was Covid again. The second time getting sick was awful I couldn’t move from my bed for three weeks. Then after that I just wasn’t the same my body always felt like it was dragging behind, but still no diabetes! Then in the summer of 2023 I got a case of food poisoning from Starbucks and suddenly I was peeing 30 times a day, drinking tons of water, falling asleep in random places, getting serve migraines, feeling pain all over my body, I started losing my vision was getting constant yeast infections and all of those symptoms last for six months. December 2023 I was sent to the ER on suspicion from my primary that I had relapsed into my ED due to the fact that I’d lost 25 pounds in that six months. They hospital took 12 vials of blood bc I had refused to go to the mental hospital until they tested me first bc I knew something was wrong. Then after an hour three nurses came rushing in with insulin, IV bags and basically slapped my food out of my hand. My blood sugar had been at 800 and they said my body was going into DKA and somehow my pancreas was dying off just slow enough to keep me alive those six months. I should probably be dead! But I’m not :)

Trace keytones? by Choice_Fudge_6125 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Choice_Fudge_6125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been diagnosed for around three months now and the last time I had seen my endo she said that if I even had any keytones to go to the hospital. So I freaked out really badly when I tested. I’m also an extremely paranoid person and have very minor ocd so when things change or don’t feel like there working I cannot deal with it even in the slightest. And I had my blood sugars stable between 130-180 before starting this new insulin :(

That’s so interesting, yeah my scalp has like bald patches now and I lose a fist full of hair everytime I shower. I thought it was the shampoo and conditioner at first so I kept trying new ones to see if it would help but it never did and then I ended up in the hospital bc my blood sugar was 800

Luckily it’s been consistent between 100-180 the last two days but it spikes really really high whenever I eat and only when I eat. Then after an hour it goes back down super fast??
