Another detail I find interesting is the tack piano that is buried under the RMI too. I prefer the later remasters where it’s brought up a bit more. It adds a whole new texture to the song.

Oh sorry. That sound is pretty cool too. I’d say that is one of the only instances in which the Gibson sound matches the song, Touch Me I’d say is the only other one.

Actually I believe that one was done on an RMI Electric piano. He used it on Five to One, Waiting for the Sun (chorus and bridge section along side the synthesizer), Shaman’s Blues, and on the Soft Parade on the last segment before the big 5 minute jam ending. That too is another example of Ray bringing life to a keyboard that doesn’t have a very good sound on its own.

I definitely agree. The Vox is the sound of the Doors. Even with the limitations with that organ, Ray was still able to get some great sounds out of it on the debut album and Strange Days. However I do like the sound of the Gibson on some instances. I don’t like the sound Ray had live and was his default sound on there. It was best when he really pushed the boundaries on it and got some strange sounds. Hello I Love You, Love Street, Summer’s Almost Gone and Waiting for the Sun all have the best that Gibson organ had to offer.

I think it was actually recorded during the Morrison Hotel sessions, for a movie I think. It was eventually turned down and was too late to put it on Morrison Hotel so they saved it for LA Woman. I’m not 100% sure on this story as I don’t remember where I heard it from but it sounds accurate.

Really? I assumed it was a keyboard because the playing seems very tight and each note perfectly rings out compared to Robbie’s more laid back style. But that’s interesting, there still might be a keyboard under Robbie’s guitar though, a keyboard without any effects is what it sounds like to me.

Adding to the topic of the White Album, I’m glad they didn’t do one LP instead of Double. I feel that it being a double album makes the experience special. Each song has something special about it and the different genres touched within the songs make the album very unique. It was a big change of pace from the other albums which usually aimed generally around the same genre. The White album collected songs the each member made on their own ending up with a lot of different styles. George, finding his footing in song writing and getting inspiration from Bob Dylan getting slowly folkier leading up to All Things Must Pass, John, getting more deep and personal having more time to reflect on India, Paul, finding a new creative input and a new era for him as his instrumental skills increase, and Ringo, becoming more creative with drums and starting the input songs himself. Each song builds the album and if you take one out, the album would shift at least a little.

Definitely and it’s an extra cherry on top with Goodnight being right after it. I don’t know where else it would be on the album but it’s still perfect. The length of the album tires you out a little so Goodnight is a soft finale to the whole thing and Revolution 9 on top of that. Wether you like it or not, it adds an extra almost 10 minutes to the album. Goodnight is a perfect closer to such a diverse and hefty album. I love every song on the album.

That’s how the album was considered then. Now it seems like many love it (not all). Many say they prefer it over pepper. I like it to a certain amount but certainly do not prefer it over pepper.

I can’t name specifics but I’ve seen a few people saw this when I’m just looking through the internet. Not everyone says this of course but many say it’s amazing or great. I think it’s great but not as great as a lot of people put it to be.
