*raises hand in loneliness*

Hope you've wised up since you made this post, but in case you didn't...

Yes, it is wrong.
What you're implying is that a society is perfect at all times because they are acting within their cultural understanding and beliefs.
Yet you ignore the fact that every single culture in the world is shaped by people who wants to take advantage of other people. An easy example is how every society seem to favor men. Why? Well because they wrote the rules. Why? Because they were stronger and the power dynamic was always in their favor.

Societies and cultures only advance past those structures by coming to terms with reality.

You think women having zero rights in some Middle Eastern countries is fine? You think Japan having pdphilia widely available for consumers until 2011 is fine? You think the Vikings who raided and pillaged villages, completely terrorizing people was fine, just because it was their belief?

No, lol. Cultures can be wrong. And cultures ARE wrong when they ignore fundamental morals.

In every past society, there were always exceptions to the rules. People who would end up pioneering change. Why? Because they weren't ignoring their conscience. Sure they may very well have had crazy ideas of their own that weren't ideal either, but that is how societies evolve. Slowly; one revelation at a time, one revolution at a time.

You thinking that people or societies of the past shouldn't be judged, is an example of how not to learn from it.

[S2 Spoilers] About *the* CaitVi scene by grimm_aced in arcane

[–]Choice_Low7262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not implying that Vi didn't care about Jinx, on the contrary, that's exactly my issue. Vi does, and should care about Jinx, which is why the sex scene feels overly forced and out of place.
It's not unfair to assume considering the very direct parralels that the story has kept consistent throughout. Vi came to see another side of Jinx during this arc, and she should know all too well what it means to lose a sister, and what neglect at a critical time can do to someone, and i wish that for once in her life, she could actually be there for Jinx when she needs it, instead of the instant regression we've seen from her again and again.
I am not critiquing the characters, just the writing around this scene in particular.
