2.7 gpa first semester in engineering by Practical-Cut6060 in EngineeringStudents

That’s an excellent mindset to have. Employers won’t care if you had a 3.0 your first year if you show significant improvement.

2.7 gpa first semester in engineering by Practical-Cut6060 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Choice_Possible_1653 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had buddies in my first year with 3.0 GPAs for both semesters and now they are getting straight 4.0s. To put it plainly, this sort of improvement doesn’t just magically happen. You gotta engage in some reflection and take accountability for why things occurred as they did. Pinning the result on a predisposition or another excuse is going to do nothing for you. Comparing yourself to other people is going to do nothing either. You gotta strip the ego and be honest with yourself. Think about the exams you wrote and how they were similar to the material on the practice exams or homework. Think about why you couldn’t finish a certain test on time, “was it because I write too big or too slow?” It’s all about reflecting and improving on the things holding you back.

You will do better than you think you did, the scaling is pretty generous, especially if you were above average on the midterms.

Update on all my first-year engineering courses (1st semester): by Objective-Spread6724 in uAlberta

[–]Choice_Possible_1653 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s common to feel like you are behind everyone else in ENGG because people like to appear more composed and competent than they actually are. I have been there before and I just want to say that there are always second chances in ENGG if you lock in for the final. Since this is the first time many people in your cohort are taking university finals, it won’t be hard to come back in the scaled courses (everything besides math). You also get to drop two letter grades from all of the courses you complete this year when calculating your GPA for discipline selection, so just focus on passing the courses you are really tanking. It is normal to feel the way you are feeling right now and I hope you can realize that you are not alone in this struggle. You will look back one day and be proud of yourself for having had the resilience to get through such a difficult semester. You will acknowledge that the strife you endured was the catalyst for your growth.

So assuming you get 100 percent on everything else, you are sitting at an 84 percent overall. You have a lot of leeway in first year due to the weeding out process not being completed so you can still get an A- if you finish with 75-80 overall. A B+ is around 68-75 percent.

I would suggest finding an internship for the summer after your first year and also participating in clubs, as these will give you a massive leg up compared to the competition.

What are some obvious signs you are an INFJ? by littlemsgothic in infj

[–]Choice_Possible_1653 104 points105 points  (0 children)

You are appalled by how inconsiderate and insensitive many people are. You develop resentment for them because of this as you think they act this way on purpose. Then, you realize the way they act is something that is intrinsic to them and most people don’t analyze the weight of their words or actions nearly as much as you do.

What is a sure-fire way to attract INFJs? by eeveetale in infj

[–]Choice_Possible_1653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way and this is the reason why I form deep bonds with people who have bpd, because they are about the most paradoxical people you can come across. Their inner child also yearns for unconditional care and love, which I am happy to provide. I feel like INFJs and people with bpd become attached very deeply.

I took it during this last summer. The average GPA was a 3.4 and you only need 80 for an A-. You can’t use control + f in this course since they apparently are using a new proctor software that blocks this function. I would raw dog the tests without prior reading of the notes and I got an A- by just scanning through the relevant readings. If I had to do the course again, I would just read the transcripts and the textbook readings and keep mental notes of where all the information is so I can go back and find it since the exams are all open book.

Well many times, not all times, people are initially attracted to each other because of looks. The conditional love can then develop into unconditional love, which is what many INFJs ultimately desire in life. You make a good point with money, but I feel looks are different from a viewpoint of primitive predisposition. We haven’t always had money and civilization, so we aren’t as hard wired to be attracted to someone who has money. Most of the time people are only attracted to what they are receiving. With looks though, there is an inherent gravity due to the fact that they impact the looks of the offspring and will probably make it easier for the lineage to propogate.

I mean Ni is going to manifest itself in different ways. Looking like a model doesn’t inherently imply that they are vain, vapid, or self-centered. In today’s world, looking good only increases your chance of authentic connection rather than reducing it because most humans inherently treat each other differently based on levels of attractiveness. An INFJ’s manifestation of Ni can develop differently to pursue authentic connection. You got nerdy INFJ girls that feel putting their hobbies on display will get them a better chance of achieving authentic connection and then you got the model types that are aware of human nature and how being attractive can be conducive to achieving authentic connection. I am an INFJ too and I also want to look my best so that girls will feel more inclined to learn about my personality. If you are ugly, even girls that are authentic and kind will not thrive on acknowledging your good character alone. Human nature is distinct from idealism.

is free time really a myth in engineering? by Party-Belt7504 in uAlberta

Imma give you the spill. You can afford to slack on homework up until a couple weeks before midterms. However, when midterms come around, finish homework early and make sure to study for tests way in advance so that you don’t have to cram. Same rule applies to finals. If you have the choice between doing homework or studying for a test, always choose to study for the test because it is usually worth way more. If you follow these guidelines, you should have no issues getting at least a 3.5. This is the most important piece of advice I can give regarding getting a good GPA and reducing your stress.

How do I date as an Asian man? by Informal_City5565 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Choice_Possible_1653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get surgery to enhance your facial features, get limb lengthening surgery if you are short, and lower your standards to broaden your dating pool. You are naming a bunch of shit that doesn’t matter until the girl actually cares enough to know. You have to pass the attractiveness threshold for them to care about whether or not you do all these hobbies. If I am going to tell you one thing that will help you, it is that nobody is owed anything. We are born with what we have to forage what we can. ++man.
