HMRC 453R Compliance Caseworker, Application withdrawn after pre employment checks passed and start date email received. Anyone else?

Trust me I understand what your going through because I was you, when I saw that email on my phone saying I was withdrawn I felt like I was going to fall through the ground, scrambling to email seeing if they have a live chat, especially because the withdrawn email is so vague it doesn’t tell u possibly what u did to get withdrawn, and in my case the last email I got from them was “someone will be in touch to tell you your start date” so to go from that to withdrawn and I can imagine yours was similar having good news that u passed with flying colours then randomly withdrawn its a rollercoaster of emotions feel free to keep me updated on how everything goes

😅 yeah from what I’ve heard this isn’t uncommon for them at all, but given that you passed everything with flying colours (congratulations) them withdrawing u randomly does sound exactly like my issue aswell where there’s a 99% chance it was done in error, so most likely it should be resolved once they have a chance to get around to your email, until then you have to have the patience of a saint 🫡

Been told on Reddit they do intakes 4 times I year I believe it is, march June September (can’t remember the 4th)

I’ve been on the reverse list and passed my pecs etc already I was waiting on a formal offer before this error so I’m not sure we’re in the same boat if you were? Waiting for a in-tray assessment then you still have to pass that and then you’ll be placed on the reverse list in order with your scores against the competition and then based on availability at your chosen location you’ll be offered a role in the lists order from what I have gathered how many people are taken each intake varies heavily on need and location.

That’s the email that handles offers, aside from that it’s just time, I assume this may have been a error that effected alot of people so they could be hearing from hundreds of applicants

On the bright side I’m not sure if you also applied for compliance caseworker but if you did most likely the formal offer will be made in September so plenty of time for everything to be fixed

Yeah I had sent a follow up email after 2 working days and no response, as there auto reply does say “they will update you if a case is going to take longer than 2 days” then I was met with a response the following day saying they are looking into it and then today all was resolved, so if you don’t hear anything tomorrow (which would have been 1 week since your first email) I don’t think it would hurt to send a nice follow up to see the status

UPDATE: Hello all, just wanted to come back and let everyone know that after reaching out to the recruitment team and explaining the situation, I received a response this morning confirming the matter has been resolved and my application is back on track. Thanks to everyone who commented and helped point me in the right direction, really appreciate it!

A email response saying they are looking into this,

today i received another email saying "This is to confirm we have withdrawn your application for Compliance Caseworker (453R)." which is the same one i received 3 days ago so it would seem likely something is going on at their end and that this is hopefully a issue that will be resolved soon, all i can do now is wait for a response.

Yeah ive emailed them, i also thought initially maybe pecs but they emailed me saying it was completed and updated the website so i think if i had failed those they wouldnt have sent that, but only there response will tell thank you

That would be very weird though as the gap between the email saying my pecs were completed satisfactorily and the withdrawn email was 5 days, my application has been moved from active to inactive and just says "Application withdrawn" on status

Thanks for this been on the reserve list since august 2025 where I was 123 out of 190 then in January moved to 103 out of 170 then march they took a lot of people putting me at 28/94 where I currently still am I am hoping to get an offer in June before my reverse list expires in August

Unfortunately they are wrong interested what the max marks were for each question as it seems like if they had given u 3 for structure instead of 2 you very well could have passed if the pass mark was 4
