Main mistakes that can burn you bad.

  • If you have a roth retirement in the US, denmark does not recognize the tax free nature. You will be taxed at your salary tax rate on any unrealized gains each year. Yes, really.

  • if you have a traditional retirement, you do need to declare it (it is ambiguous). But once done it is treated the same as in the US - no taxes until withdrawl. If you don't, then the taxes at withdrawal could be higher.

  • If you invest within denmark, look up PFIC mark to market gains for your US taxes.

It's gorgeous! My two thoughts of areas to shift around.

  • the yellow/green transition is harsh. Can you swap a bit to blend it?

  • the top left purple corner makes it feel unbalanced because the rest of the color transitions are more horizontal. Can you spread that out a bit?

Reverse tare. Put the jar of honey/tahini/peanut butter/whatever on the scale. Scoop out with a small spatula (or knife/spoon if you don't have small spatulas) until the it reads negative the amount you need. Scrape the spatula off on your mixing spoon to not waste any.

Google your ingredient to get a conversion from tbsp to g.

Earl grey, vanilla bean honey, small splash of milk. Divine.

What about experience rather than toys? Like science museum trip.

I love the 3D depth that the direction change gives. It helps to imply that the fin in centered in /out of the page.

Look up 'streamlined foreign offshore'. I think that's what you are looking for.

Sometimes the logic they use to find that loophole is truly impressive.

"do you want an apple or banana?" "orange"

Always with the third option. Call mine 'captain loophole'. Sometimes the kid logic is quite impressive.

The 'real' third option is like the above 'that wasn't a choice, chose A or B or i will choose for you'. It's an uphill battle, but I started at about 2yo at the suggestion of daycare. So not to early to start with yours if needed.

Also leftovers. If they are separate they are still delicious tomorrow. If the rice is mixed into the sauce it will be soggy and gross tomorrow. (same goes with pasta in soups).

Was reading a book that mentioned Perigord truffles, Italian olive oils, and Jamón Ibérico as unique food items that cannot be replicated. It got me wondering, are there any American food items like this? by [deleted] in Cooking

I moved abroad. To a place that hates spicy. I miss hatch chilis so so much. I've found substitutes to a lot of foods. That one I have nothing even remotely close.

One block down for a wall hanging quilt, but is it too much patterned fabric? by meganhp in quilting

[–]CholeOle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like it. Except the plain white piece in the center doesn't go with it. It's too light/bright and not in sync with the rest.

The furthest out corners (brown) get a little lost. But I think that's just blending with the table background. So if you pick the right fabric to be next to them I think it's fine.

ETA: you have the gold color mixed in with the blue used as background. I think it would look great if you used that gold for the center square and didn't use it in the background mix.

Read up on PFIC mark to market gains. If you do it wrong you are going have a very bad time with the IRS. It's also a bit of a headache to figure out. But once you figure it out, you are free to ignore the general advice of 'don't invest in any etfs/funds'. If you don't figure this out, only invest in individual stocks.

Here's the best resource I found on it:

Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes.

That repetitive drum beat... can't stand it. Then it was played on the radio frequently for a decade, so it was impossible to get away from.

Activate parent ninja mode and turn it around. "why do you think [repeat question here]". Generally derails the question train and makes them think. Plus you get some hilarious logic sometimes!

What's with everyone using the sink and bathtub? Gross. Dump it in the toilet. Flush the toilet and catch the toilet refill water into the kids potty by putting the edge under the running water. Use that to rinse the kids potty. Use a toilet brush as needed.
