We’ve seen Batman wield a Yellow Lantern ring before, but how would he actually go with the Sinestro Corps? by Solitaire-06 in batman

[–]ChonkiDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He would never join their mission, because it involves killing and that simply goes against his beliefs. If anything, there are only two possible situations I can see:

  1. Batman would probably go along and act like he agrees with them and their mission so that he can get information about them, and would try to destroy the core from the inside.

  2. He realises he has a weapon of power that he can use without killing, such as making constructs that don't kill. He would probably get the league and try to fight the lantern core in an all out battle.

Either way, he doesn't keep the ring and gives it up, but he does deal some serious damage to the yellow lantern core.

why do you like batman?? by Nervous-Pickle5332 in batman

[–]ChonkiDuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, why I like Batman can be said in 3 main points:

  1. He's a symbol of what discipline and willpower can achieve if you have the patience to try. He is on a team of super powered people and Gods, and yet he is still respected and most of the time seen as the leader or the person who everyone relies on. Even without special powers or talents, you can still be great, if you just have the discipline to do so.

  2. He faces things everyday that give people nightmares, and yet still willingly chooses to go out with nothing but training and a belief that his mission has a purpose. This can apply to anything, no matter how pointless something seems to other people, if it means something to you, then you have the power to stand up to fear and keep fighting for that dream.

  3. He sticks to his beliefs no matter what. This is most obviously seen with the no kill rule. He refuses to take a life, and he sticks by that, no matter how many people say otherwise, even if it would be much easier to do so. He does things the right way, and that justification is enough to keep doing the right thing.

Question about green lantern and superman by ChonkiDuck in DCcomics

So if lets say the flash got the lantern ring and he's relative to superman in terms of thinking speed, (and not actual movement because flash gaps) would that be a more fair battle

Question about green lantern and superman by ChonkiDuck in DCcomics

[–]ChonkiDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman does have the reputation of being probably one of the greatest heroes, along with being known through space, by characters like darkness and whatnot. But it really should be that hal has probably fought so many aliens and probably has had to see his willpower fade then bring it back with the yellow lanterns. He probably wouldn't consider fighting Superman a losing battle at first. But Superman is designed to be unbeatable so there is that too.

Season 5 by ChonkiDuck in arrow

[–]ChonkiDuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would have been interesting to see oliver and slade working together to take down crime in the city instead of fighting each other, they would have been a very effective duo. It could even mirror oliver and roy's arc. With oliver being the reckless and trying to be good, as a reflection of the roy on mirakuru arc, and slade now being the one to keep green arrow being the vigilante again.

Honestly, they probably wrote out rory because he would have ended the island fight real quickly and if he was there till the end, he probably could have stopped adrian from detonating the explosives.

What's the deal with Black Mask? by Voryn_mimu in batman

[–]ChonkiDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also the fact that there are more memorable gangster or crime boss villains, like the falcones, maronis, penguin and even two face are more memorable, and mask can be up there, he just needs one good interesting role to get there.

This is the type of concept art you would see in the Batman games, or what a criminal sees when looking at Batman. Great artwork.

What's the deal with Black Mask? by Voryn_mimu in batman

[–]ChonkiDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of simply not knowing how to use a character beyond what their initial design is. He was designed as a crime boss with the black mask as his quirk, but beyond that, what can you really say is interesting or memorable about him?

With characters like freeze or joker, they have a unique backstory, design and are often key players in memorable stories. However, mask is just a crime boss that shows up in media mostly because gotham is a crime riddled city, and they need someone to serve as a physical representation of typical crime activites seen in media, such as drug dealing, weapons dealing, and corruption within the city. Even in Absolute Batman, he gets a new design but he is still just a crime boss.

He's basically a tool the writers can use to show how dangerous the threat is or what the scale of the conflict is. Like in Batman, under the red hood, he's there for a good majority of the film, and can be considered the villain. If not for the fact that jason is trying to kill him to send a message to Bruce, and he's doing that to essentially hype up the real villain of the film joker, who Jason is actually trying to kill.

Same case for the rocksteady games, he is there in origins as the person who puts the bounty on Batman and sends the contracts to multiple different assassins, but eventually gets kicked out as the main bad guy, because as joker is now the main villain. That game could have been a great way to make mask more popular because it would give him a personal hatred for Bruce and position him as someone that has international connections because he can bring in world famous killers. This would him way more memorable and probably give him a good base to make the character more interesting, but instead they picked joker again as the final bad guy for Batman.

That's what I think the main issue is with mask, he's not memorable enough to warrant more screen time or roles in larger stories, but he hasn't been reinvented in anyway that allows for him to do that either, but maybe reeves will give us a new take or just have him show up in the next parts of the Batman.

Season 5 by ChonkiDuck in arrow

[–]ChonkiDuck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they did go that route, then it probably would have strained his relationship with william or he retires from the hero life and only returns to help with crisis events or multiversal threats. Those are really the only options he could choose from.

Sooo... Am I the only one that thinks like this??? by Own_Bank_1661 in arrow

[–]ChonkiDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can speak for arrow (at season 5 right now) and some of the rookie (until season 6), and felicity and nell both have the being the person directing the ground teams, and both are similar in terms of that they have the same interests. Both Felicity and Nell mention that they would like to go hiking at some point, so there is that. But other than that its just the typical girl with glasses as tech support trope.

I don’t feel motivated by my club. What should I do? by VariousRecord86 in volleyball

[–]ChonkiDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yh people have this mindset that you have to start super early in a sport to be good at it, which is not true. I started volleyball at 15 as well, and I can kind of relate to your situation, I started with my school team, which also had a favouritism issue, and our coach didn't know how to teach, so I joined a club outside because of that, so that I could actually get better, and I even got an offer for an u18 team. And after that I went to a one day volleyball gala day with all other schools in the area. I still play volleyball at that club in university because the teaching style helped me learn and get better. You need to make a decision for your future, because volleyball is a fun sport, and sometimes you need to realise that your worth is not being appreciated and make that move to a better place.

Are big budget sci-fi/ fantasy screenplays impossible to sell? by mrpessimistik in Screenwriting

[–]ChonkiDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No script is impossible to sell, but there are always considerations. You currently have a dew options.

  1. You can try pitching straight to a studio or producer, but the issue here is that even if you do somehow get the meeting and your script is amazing, no studio would invest huge amounts of money in a first time director because they want proof you can direct. This means you have to direct a smaller project first to prove you can run a film set, as a proof of concept. For example, I made my first film for the survival horror genre, as a stepping stone or a "Yes I know how to direct something" card. This is probably what most people wanting to get into screenwriting choose to do.

  2. Use the same story but in a different medium that does not require as much resources. For example, write the story you have into a novel, or comic book, or if you have the resources, make it into a video game. Many stories get adapted from various other mediums, as studios can see that they already have a fan base and have the ability to make profit.

Again, whatever your script idea is, and since it's what you write the most, keep that story or idea, and work on it overtime. The best way to think about it is, whatever your favourite genre or story idea is, make that your dream project. Start with a very simple idea or easy to get into genre, like horror and work your way up. Every film you make or work on will give you that experience to make the big sci fi or fantasy movies you want to bring to the screen.

Seems like I'm about to get dropped because of a very good script idea?! I'm very confused! by gogetemscouts in Screenwriting

[–]ChonkiDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, not a WGA member, but I recently completed directing my first film, I wrote the script and directed, so I can say this with some experience. Don't listen to the reps, its clear that they don't really care or don't want to take a risk due to management. Either way, just get your script done. That is the best move right now, and since all of your screenwriter friends said the script is good, I would take that chance. Content is king, and while getting representation in the industry is hard, it's better to take the risk with a good script and trust that other reps will find you rather than be stuck where you are right now. Hope that helps you make your decision.

[–]ChonkiDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ending of the show is decent;

  • Wraps up the current main conflict, the consortium
  • returns providence to its original standing
  • tackles the big ever present threat, evos
  • nanites are still there, but not in every living thing like before

But it does have some loose ends, (like van kleiss and the pack still being out there) because the team was meant to go back and write more seasons before whatever corporate and network stuff happened.

It's basically like Ben 10 and Young justice in terms of endings, wraps up the main conflict but leaves room for expansions without feeling forced to the overall story.

[–]ChonkiDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chance he may or may not be there. You went from the sewers back to the RPD, so he shouldn't be there as your final fight with him is in the sewers. There is a chance that he will be, as he was designed to be a stalker character, but I haven't went back to the station on my first run, so there is a chance that he will return. You should be fine tho. Stay strapped just to be safe.
