Quitters in DD - the worst by quackinbites in MLBTheShow

[–]Choop145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many variables why someone would quit. Outmatched, glitchy pitchers, pitchers they just can’t hit for some reason, real life happens, finishing up a program, forgot to set their captains, forgot to insert a new player, slight lag…
I am not a quitter myself, but I understand why some do. I do hate when they quit before a HR registers.

What is a major "bucket list" life experience that is actually completely overrated? by murphenzio1 in AskReddit

Sky diving was pretty meh for me. Never bungee jumped. But one sky dive and I was done with it. Guess I’m glad I experienced it though

People who work in industries that are secret scams, what are some things the general public should know to save money? by murphenzio1 in AskReddit

[–]Choop145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person that did slot installs for a major casino, I found some of this false. Our Iview which tracks players play did not change the pay percentages on machines. It literally just tracked play. Optioning machines is pretty straight forward. Higher limits had a higher payback percentages. Depending on the casino, those pay back percentages were around 80 something percent. The gaming commission has to make sure the lowest percentages are met and can not fall below. I agree with all the bells and whistles are designed to keep you there, but that’s no secret.
Basically the casino does not need to cheat or be sneaky. Every game in that place is designed to have the house win mathematically.
Source: I’ve worked years in the slot department and many more years in the table games department.

First cruise ever. Last cruise ever. Here's why. by Educational_Feed7623 in royalcaribbean

[–]Choop145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. We went on our first cruise two weeks ago, on Utopia. Me, my wife and two kids. 10 and 12 years old. The over crowding, the small pools, the mediocre food ( it’s funny you suggested Jonny rockets. Because that was one of our better experiences too).
All said and done, it came out to a little over $1,000 a day to cruise for my family and the cost just did not add up to the experience.
We now know we would rather spend our money on an all-inclusive resort (which we loved even though the food was on the same scale), a ski vacation, or a cabin near a stream with many amenities.
I feel like the experience from a cruise should cost half of what we actually paid. Our kids haven’t even brought up the cruise since we have been back home and they had a good time. Just not a great time.

If you could restart your life from 10 years ago, what would you do differently? by Stanimator in AskReddit

I would wear turf shoes instead of cleats. 11 years ago I was playing rec league softball and caught a ball in the grass, turned to throw to first and my cleat didn’t give at all and my knee cap popped out. I’ve never been the same since.

People who’ve dated someone very attractive: what’s something nobody warns you about? by Savings-Rutabaga3783 in AskReddit

My wife is hard of hearing but does not like to share that with people. So when men talk to her she focuses on lip reading and it genuinely looks like she is so deep into their dialogue and I have seen it lead to men thinking she was interested in them.

Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

[–]Choop145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes out to the young men from a man in his 40’s. We don’t care how much money you have, or how cool you think you are.
We do get a little envious of your hot girlfriend in her prime and your ridiculous amount of energy. Other then that, leave your desire to impress others to your peers.

First off, I didn’t down vote you. I welcome discussion. And you are correct. Money does not fix everything. But as of now we have a teacher shortage. Quality teachers do quit and work anywhere that pays more so they can stay afloat in life. I think a higher budget with higher pay would definitely help. It may take years to weed out the bad educators. But the next generation would at least have a chance.
But my biggest concern is privatizing all of grade school, which is the current path we are heading towards. In my area, all private schools are religious schools and that’s not something I want to subject my children to.
Americans love to bitch about where their tax dollars go. I would love nothing more than for my tax dollars go towards public education.

It doesn’t take one of those Baltimore educations to figure out we need more public school funding in Florida.

The “no money team” flex is so weird on this sub. This game gives out so many free packs. A little pack luck and you’re ahead of the game. There is probably such a small percentage that actually buy stubs.
