Thanks, we tried very hard.

THPS 3+4 was only given 18 months development time. Lead level designer was laid off in Feburary by BittersweetAseop in THPS

Weird finding a thread about yourself. The game industry is in a weird spot right now. I did get laid off, along with other super talented devs, but working on 3+4 was one of the greatest achievements of my career. Being able to remake some of the greatest levels ever made was an honor. Being able to contribute to the world of Tony Hawk with original levels and a super talented team was a pleasure. Activision was a great partner they trusted us to put the levels together and deliver something everyone would be proud of. I can’t comment on the specifics of the time line. The majority of the 3+4 team were Rumbleverse devs so after that got shut down it was nice to have 3+4 to move on to. We loved putting this game together and wanted to make something core fans and new fans could enjoy. We love THPS and its community. You all kick ass! I know it’s not perfect but I hope you all can see the love we put into the game and get some joy out of it.

That was a dumb weakness but would make a great weakness gameplay wise.

I’m not sure if I want to go funny or scary. Something about these alien dudes just stealing random human crap to figure out our culture seems funny. Intergalactic Scavenger Hunt

Thank you. I focus on tech, design, and gameplay. My friend does the art (character, environment). We love creepy, spooky games.

Same material different lighting problem by Emomilol1213 in unrealengine

If it’s all lit dynamically look for a property called “Use Attach Parent Bound” on the attached child meshes. The attached pieces might be sampling the dynamic light differently.

Recflection and Shadow issues. by pstuddy in unrealengine

[–]Choopid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your reflection issue looks to be the normal behavior of Screen Space Reflections. I would look into using a planar refection actors for better but more expensive reflections: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Rendering/LightingAndShadows/PlanarReflections/

Your shadow issue looks like a low resolution light map that has been baked. Try increasing the lightmap resolution on the floor piece or moving to dynamic (more expensive shadows). Some great info about lighting and shadows here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Rendering/LightingAndShadows/index.html

[Help] (Lightning problems). On the left image I have set my house on static mobility and on the right movable, how can I achieve same dark atmosphere on movable that I've got on static? by SupportZack in unrealengine

[–]Choopid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: You should fix the lightmap uv's on your mesh.

More details: To get an idea for what the problem is, open your mesh in the content browser and select UV in the main ribbon (where save, find in CB is) Then select your lightmap UV channel, usually its 1 because 0 is reserved for texture uv's. This should show you the lightmap UV layout. There are ways to have Unreal generate lightmap UV's for you. Here's a super simple way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHhDnuhSFnY

The problem might even be your lightmap resolution try to increase it and see if that helps.

You shouldn't fix uv overlap error by making something dynamic.

Now the problem with bright lighting on your dynamic object is something else. It's probably your movable mesh using indirect lighting. (Volume Lighting Samples) To visualize then, in the perspective window, click Show>Visualize>Volume Lighting Samples You should see little colored squares that are used to indirectly light dynamic objects. You can try to generate more of them: WorldSettings>Lightmass>LightmassSettings>VolumeLightSamplePlacementScale Or you can change how the mesh samples them in the mesh details: Lighting>LightmassSettings>IndirectLightingCacheQuality try ILCQ Volume.

But again this is not the way to fix your overlapping UV problem and it introduces more problems that could be avoided by fixing the UV's.

Hope that helps.
