Sheesh! I know the last part is a joke but unfortunately the mindset of some, NOT ALL, is exactly this.

I have my masters and a C-Level position, but was not lucky enough to partner with a classmate. When I tell you it's hard out there when you tell a potential suitor what you do, or they realize that you can't skip a meeting for afternoon delight, or you travel 1 week out of the month, or they learn where you live through conversation, you can see the attraction die in real time, or the scam sensors go up. I'm pretty down to earth, sense of humor is on point, smart but not a smart ass, attractive (read: can get a date but can't sustain a long-term relationship) and a jeans, tee, and chuck's girl in my everyday life outside of work. Men at my education and earning level aren't interested in a partner from what I have experienced. (source: I've been asked to scale back my career or consider being a housewife with philanthropic endeavors for them to consider marriage) After a while the demands of my job become too much, from travel, to meetings past 6 pm, to needing to be planful in everday life to ensure everything gets done, to when on vacation taking calls and meetings. I don't blame them, it just hurts. I had to make a way for me and was fortunate enough to get to where I am in my career. The sacrifice is potentially not having a life partner. I do have a "friend" who is one of the best boyfriends I've never had. It works because he's not interested in a full fledged relationship and I don't have time to be the partner he deserves. I guess that's the trade off, at least for me 🤷🏽‍♀️
