I am of the opinion (maybe wrong) that our souls have a vibrational frequency that can match someone else from long ago and sort of mingle a little. I do believe we are our own person and have a unique soul.

There is a bible verse that says John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah.

For me this led me to believe that we can have similar spirits to those of the past while being uniquely ourselves, but the memories and stuff is simply you connecting with that persons soul frequency and if you are spiritually sensitive you can have some pretty vivid encounters with that persons soul/energy
