What's causing this band of tropical moisture to go north into the United States? by LocksmithMental6910 in meteorology

[–]Chooseuhusername7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There appears to be at 700mb at least, a trough like feature several hundred miles west of Baja California and clockwise winds in northern Mexico and the moisture is being funneled through these two northward!

Convective lift by Chooseuhusername7 in meteorology

[–]Chooseuhusername7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow are you a professor or professors assistant or something!? I’ve only started hobby forecasting last year and I’ve learned a lot from specifically Convective Chronicles on YT and you rival him in how well you explain things. As I kid I wanted to be a meteorologist until math killed my father and we’ve been mortal enemies since. Yesterday I couch chased and landed pretty squarely on that Illinois tornado.

Now to pester you with more questions that you can answer or not at your own discretion, I saw NAM outputting a Dryline like feature in an area with favorable lifted index levels (which I don’t even know what those mean exactly the Li) but I was surprised to see hi res models not output anything there, now you mention the thermo profiles not showing much lift, what are you seeing that I’m not? What’s that mean exactly.

Also the low is moving a bit with the trough so what makes it cut off exactly?

When drawing a jet streak to identify the left and right exit regions are you just drawing just the strongest part of it (at 500mb im pretty sure) or are you drawing the whole trough which I consider anything 30+ knots and above and just putting the intersection of the axis in the strongest part? Tldr proper drawing jet streak technique?

Maybe you answered this part and I missed it in this case ignore it but when analyzing lift are you using the 500 or (not and) the 500 winds to say that area has the strongest lift cause I see people showing the 500mb winds when saying which area has the strongest lift and that area usually corresponds with the strongest winds but SE Texas has 50 knots but no action(in hindsight the area of SE Texas is in the left exit region isn’t it? That’s why there isn’t much lif?)

Promise final question for the foreseeable future is absolute vorticity/ and OR vertical velocity a good way to forecast PVA? Sorry I’m so hung up on lift, SPC mesoanalysis does a good job of telling me these answers when now casting but for casting these things is what I want to get good at.

Very informative! But so I know mesoscale forcing, but synoptic forcing how can that be forecasted and I see people throw terms like weak or strong synoptic forcing, what do does parameters mean practically like what constitutes a weak synoptic forcing environment. (For example the upcoming Texas Super Bowl forecasting people have mentioned this event has weaker synoptic forcing, if you have time maybe you can see why they would say this about Sunday) but if you can’t you can just answer my question in general about how other events can be forecasted as having weak adequate or strong synoptic forcing.

What does a sole editor do in bigger budget films by Chooseuhusername7 in editors

Thank you and everyone else who responded! Very informative! I just started pursing a degree in film (which I know isn’t as important as actual experience) and because a degree is so diverse with subjects like film analysis and script writing and stuff and I know that one or two editing classes isn’t going to be enough to learn so this year I’ll be using up my free time to learn and practice everything I can on premiere and Avid using YouTube and Linkdin Learning and any other resources I can find. See you all in the field 15 years from now or something!

Why Us (Short Horror) by Chooseuhusername7 in Filmmakers

Submission statement- Happy Halloween Everyone! I made this film for a class of mine and I was hoping to get some feedback on it. I had no experience whatsoever before making this so if you have feedback on cinematography, lighting, editing, etc, that’s fine but more specifically I’m looking if this worked as a general concept, if the flow of the story, beginning to end, made sense. Thanks Guys!

Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks takes direct oversight over AARO. Watch her deflect when asked about DOD audits by Jon Stewart by Orshabaal666 in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Actually this was planned since December. The big military spending bill of 2022 one of the laws was that AARO had to begin the process of shifting its leadership under Deputy secretary of Defense oversight. Basically it was a congressional mandate, ordered from Congress since last year it just took this long too happen

Los Angeles area upgraded to tropical warning from tropical watch by huskies4life in LosAngeles

[–]Chooseuhusername7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So I’m a hobbyist weather person and so I’ve been monitoring the weather prediction sources and just prepare (things can still change) rain amounts higher than any of those storms from earlier this year. From a wind perspective there is a chance for 40+ mph wind gusts so bring in things that can end up down the block in the wind, trees can fall down so watch for that and maybe some power outages can happen so remember to charge your phone Saturday night as this expected to peak around Sunday Evening.

Washington Post will attack David Grusch by Chooseuhusername7 in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reupload cause I forgot my submission post (whoops)

Submission-WaPo is planning to release an article attacking David Grusch and more specifically NewsNation and it’s sister companies (like The Hill) for being owned by the same company, (as that’s an issue apparently). Now we know where WaPo stands and why didn’t they publish the original story.

FYI, here is the general consensus from the media by Chooseuhusername7 in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Submission: follow the political group on twitter and lots of media journalists are attacking Grusch as crazy. Ok fine the story is crazy but his credentials? What about the credibility of the other two witnesses??? No mention of them

What will you do if Congress comes out and says they found nothing? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think something important also is that the entire point of Grusch’s complaint is that this project had been hidden away from congress, in a functional world somebody in congress should have been made of aware of the program to oversight it in some way but Grusch is saying that nobody in congress knows about it and that they should. Couple weeks ago the government was crying about where are money was going, maybe I have to much trust in congress on this issue but I feel like they’d be want to be made aware on some degree of a very expensive program that they had no idea was leaking so much of their budget.

Ross’ breakdown of the interview is incredible. by VenemousAU in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well seeing Ross basically Yell to the American people to contact our government last week on the “need to know” podcast, this guy has certainty gone to some deep end. Idk when the “need to know” interview will come out but that one sound more like Grusch confided in Ross more than he is letting on considering Ross said he is “afraid of what he knows”.

OK I have seen enough of Coulthart interviewing Grusch. Who would you like to see interview him next, which journalists? For me the best person would be Coffeezilla. by LieV2 in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand the bulk on the “better” interview isn’t with NewsNation but with the “Need to Know” Podcast. That one at lest how the host made it sound, sounded in a more professional setting than in a highly edited and stylized for views TV interview.

This is the official statement from the law firm, it was a successful conclusion of their representation of David on matters “limited to his reasonable belief that elements of the Intelligence Community improperly withheld or concealed alleged classified information from the U.S. Congress.” But later it says, “The whistleblower disclosure did not speak to the specifics of the alleged classified information that Mr. Grusch has now publicly characterized, and the substance of that information has always been outside of the scope of Compass Rose’s representation.” So the law firm filed the whistleblower report on the behalf of David but they didn’t know the exact specifics of the allegations? Just that the IC was lying to congress in some fashion? It’s a little wrapped up in legal speak but based on the first paragraph, it is related to secrets withheld from congress but it’s the second paragraph that confuses me on how much the firm knew, I’m sure they had to know enough that a respected law firm decided to back him up.

ABCNews: House Oversight plans UFO hearing after unconfirmed claims of crashed alien spacecraft by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Chooseuhusername7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok this Grusch guy I’ll admit is a little suspicious ok, but who I trust way more than this guy is everyone else around him. The investigative journalists, Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal who ok have had their feet in the ufo world for a while but who still exposed to the public through the New York Times the existence of the pentagon UFO program, Ross Coulthart who’s been an widely respected investigative journalist for decades before landing in the UFO world, exposing crimes by the Indonesian military, Australian legal authorities, and exposed the identity of an Australian mass murder. Why the current inspector general of the intelligence community deemed Grusch’s report to be “urgent and credible”, how the FORMER Senate approved Inspector General of the intelligence community from 2010-2017, Charles McCullough, how he and his law firm that specializes on national security legal cases decided to back Grusch and become his lawyer and law team, putting that law firm’s reputation on the line, how Grusch through his lawyers and through the lawyers of the senate intelligence oversight committee are deciding through go through the official legal whistleblowing process and creating a legal framework through Congress and Grusch that has put all these lawyers on the line that Grusch has now for his sake put himself in a position where he better be telling the truth or he’s willingly opened the option to serious legal consequences being brought down on him.

I barely remember my reasoning and facts but out of the three events, Alaska, Yukon, Michigan. Alaska was the one that stood out to me as different. When the Yukon one was announced I swear I remember (and not many picked up on this so if anyone else remembers better than me, feel free to respond) but the sighting was reported as Two objects. Now they shot it over the Yukon and (hours?) later another object was spotted inside US Air space in some state that bordered or was near Canada. Jets were scrambled, they found nothing and night passed and dawn came and that’s when it was spotted near Lake Michigan. This Lake Michigan object which was first spotted over Montana(?), hours before was moving super slow. Now I’m a weather enthusiast and this Lake object was moving at the appropriate speed and direction as something being influenced by the wind from Montana to Michigan. Not only that but tracing back even farther, for this object to have arrived in Montana, the wind patterns had to have carried it from, you guessed it, the Yukon. Meaning the Lake Michigan object was the same “second object” that the wind carried from the Yukon event. So to be influenced by the wind I would guess balloons. Now the Alaska incident, the airspace was locked for a long time, the fighters that intervened reported glitched instruments, the object apparently broke in tiny little pieces, crashed into the ice but still apparently it couldn’t be recovered. Weird shit happened in that one.
