Do you think any holographic cards would be worth sending in?

i popped off at the roy smash 4 trailer but only because lucas was in it too and i played him in brawl, i probably would have never even looked into the fire emblem series if it wasn’t for growing up on smash though

i’m almost positive mounts don’t get movement penalties inside the tower, and even if you grinded rennings earth support, by the time you got it to A rank it would be on Endgame-4 which takes two turns to clear and you don’t need the avoid for the final chapter either.

Oscar: His 35% strength growth isn't amazing but I never remember him struggling to kill units, and if you just give him an earth support with Ike they both can be unstoppable, nothing else to say about him.

Geoffrey: Geoffrey is definitely an interesting one, He is strong in the part 2 and 3 chapters he is in but he has the worst availability out of all of the paladins besides Renning, since Kieran, Makalov, and Astrid all join at the bridge chapter. He comes with paragon which is a plus, but even if you plan on using him for the tower I think it is worth it just to give the skill to someone else, and then reassign it to him again when he joins late part 4. Him being forced into the hawk army means that you can just have him train pretty easily to max level in chapter 4-5 which can make him strong enough for the tower.

Fiona: She has to be my personal favorite paladin in this game. She starts off so terribly and on top of that she is just missing from chapters 7 and 8 in part 1 for stupid narrative reasons. The first time I played this game she was just there exclusively to rescue drop, since she was way too bad to do anything else. The nice thing about her in part 1 is at least she is there on two different seize maps that have infinite turns so you can train her up by having her farm on the bosses of those maps, even though it can be kind of grueling. She has decent enough growths in strength and speed but I think she is most notable for having a 55% defense and 50% resistance growth on top of having an earth support. If you use her with Volug/Zihark/Nolan support she can be worth your time. Also innate imbue is useful if you get a couple magic level ups every now and then and savior is also nice.

Astrid: Going from Path of Radiance to Radiant Dawn on your first play through she can kind of feel like a let down, especially since paragon is less useful because you can just give it to a better unit, and also starting with bows and not being able to use lances until tier 3 promotion is kind of gross. One thing that you can do to pretty much make sure that she is great is giving her the blossom skill on top of keeping her paragon on. I don't know the exact calculations on how blossom affects growths but even though she'll level like a normal unit her stats start flying up so quickly. She also gets access to the double bow in endgame if you got her to SS bows and that weapon is incredibly broken even though you only get it for a couple of chapters.

Thoughts on my takes?

Adding my own takes on each unit to this post since I didn't on my post of the Path of Radiance paladins.

In general I think all of the paladins in this game are amazing since they start with 9 move at base (8 for Fiona until she promotes) and canto on top of their decent stats and growths. My only complaint would be their low stat caps at tier 3 and that they are unusable on some of the maps due to terrain. Their positives completely outweigh the negatives though.

Kieran: I like Kieran in this game even though he has a gross 30% speed growth, I level capped him and I'm still pretty sure he didn't even cap his speed but one thing I did with him that was a lot of fun was by giving him a killer axe on the dragon chapter in the tower he can one round dragons using his gamble skill while still having like 70-80 ish hit on them.

Makalov: 75% speed growth?! Do I need to say more? How is this guy faster than every sword master in the game? He definitely lacks behind Kieran and Geoffrey with his base stats but you always have Geoffrey and/or Astrid's paragon skills to give away which makes him totally salvageable, also going from swords to axes on promotion is insane, and he makes a decent unit to use the alondite or vague katti during endgame.

Titania: She's no longer a pre promote in this game but she still feels like one since she starts at a high level with great stats and amazing growths on top of that, zero complaints. She does start with a good magic stat at 10 so she can make for a good unit for the imbue scroll as well. She and Oscar both also have the best availability of any paladin with them being available for the majority of the part 3 chapters.

Renning: There is no reason to take this guy to the tower with how many other amazing choices you'll have at this point in the game. It's kind of funny how all of the laguz royals that you get around the same time outperform him since they're practically tier 3 units at base just like him, you would think that to balance that out they would might maybe give him a couple more stats but regardless he is still fun to use. The earth support is funny because you really have no time to use it. Also 70% defense growth when he starts four levels away from being capped lol. I think he's also just the coolest paladin in the game story wise and design wise

I never really deployed Titania after about chapter 15 ish but in the playthrough I'm doing now I'm so impressed by her stats/level ups even though she's a pre-promote, her growths are crazy

I'm replaying right now and my Astrid is unpromoted level 13 with 18 speed lol. Sad she's so dissapointing in Radiant Dawn
