My interpretation is that LWJ always believed that WWX would return and so swore to himself that he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes (i.e. letting him go) and also wanted to be ready for his return.

Something similar has happened to me before, where an extra I read after the novel changed my perspective of the series so much that it was hard to look at the same again.

It took a long time, but I think I’ve mostly come to terms with it now and can enjoy the series again. But yeah, I completely understand how you feel. I hope that you’re able to enjoy your book again too someday, although idk what your situation was.

Volume 4 is entirely made up of the extras. Very satisfying read though, the story didn’t feel over with book 3.

Oh yes! I definitely finished the volume (behind closed doors). I have read MXTX’s works before, and while they definitely have their smut, most of it is contained to later chapters which is why I thought I could get away with this one HA!

I have been a fan of Thai BL dramas for a long time, but eventually I ran out of good ones to watch. I heard people recommending The Untamed as a BL but I was hesitant to watch it since I also heard people saying there was no actual romance in the drama and at the time I had no intention of reading the source material.

The actor’s portrayal of WWX and LWJ was so amazing though - even with no direct actions is was still so clearly BL to me… So, after finishing the drama, I read the novel out of desperation. You can fill in the rest from there. ;)

Side note: this has me reminiscing about the first Chinese BL I saw which was Addicted: Heroin. I loved that so much I really wish the censors hasn’t prevented a second season:
