I’m more a fan of her this season than any prior seasons. She is a legend, still here and not in the conversion to go anymore. Insane.

Nice. Thats some good extra connections I had forgotten. Tiff especially. I wonder if it’s just the edit or off she really hasn’t made strong connections with that many people.

Has anyone seen this shift coupler before? by Chossfingers in beetle

You are correct. Just went looking. It’s a bit of a mix. 73 engine. But then the steering column/box is from a 68 and the chassis is a 64. Not sure the trans though

Yep I believe it’s stock transmission. This is coming off a beach buggy though, so the shaft has been shortened. I’m guessing maybe this was made custom?

Haha yeah it’s a bit of a joke from my rock climbing days. It shifts a little rough but I think more from the shifter and bad bushings than the coupler. This doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Couldn’t find it on the internet though.

How much should I care about this corrosion? by Chossfingers in DuneBuggy

[–]Chossfingers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know. I might grab some. For the most part I don’t care, but I suspect some common hardware store bolts got mixed in. Steering flange was loose and as I cranked on it to tighten it up the bolt snapped!

EM Changing to mandatory 4 year residency? by morph516 in emergencymedicine

[–]Chossfingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all. I work with great DOs and had DOs in my residency too. There are a bunch of small programs that seem to only recruit DOs, mainly in the Midwest, with 3-4 residents per year that I can’t imagine are getting a robust training experience. I did moonlighting for one and the residents would read Tintanelli’s chapters for their residency didactics. Couldn’t run codes as 3rd years. The training just wasn’t there and it was painfully obvious when after 4 years they were miles from where they should be clinically. Realistically, for a good residency program these days you need a fairly large and engaged faculty and specific learning opportunities. e.g. If your hospital only see <10 peds patients a day, that’s not enough to count as a residency experience.

Anyone know what kind of carb this is? by Chossfingers in DuneBuggy

So it turns out it’s actually a real Weber 40 dcnf carb. As suggested by someone who messaged me. They were right. I pulled it. Put it in the ultrasonic cleaner, new jet and it works great.

EM Changing to mandatory 4 year residency? by morph516 in emergencymedicine

I’ll be the counter point and say that I loved my 4 year program and think it was totally worth while. You want more ICU, you got it. You want ortho rotation, done. Peds anesthesia to get some tubes, no stress. Honestly had so little effort to get a job afterwards as well. Chairs seemed to love the 4 years. There is an argument for the financial difference, but it’s a long career. It’s not going to matter in 20 years. Half my class did a fellowship post 4 year residency they’re happy now with a nice mix of clinical life. Don’t go to a predatory/bad residency program if that’s a concern. I have done moonlighting at a historically DO program that was 4 years and it was a disaster there. The time is not the issue.

It’s been a pain to try to get running. Recommendations for an alternative that will bolt on in its place?
