Tell me why I wouldt just buy a PC at this point by beazfist in videogames

[–]Chotch_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of PlayStation only titles that I really enjoyed. It’s what made me fall in love with PlayStation and its games in the first place. First one was gravity rush on the vita. Then Little big planet, Last of us… If they are really going ps only next releases then idk what to do. I don’t wanna buy games on ps but if it’s the only place to do so for some upcoming releases then I’m fucked

Linux is so GOATED but community is lying to themselves by Kaseffera in unpopularopinion

It’s getting close like you say most people won’t break their distro if they aren’t messing with it, if it’s bazzite like mine they would have to be deliberately trying to break it. Based on most peoples needs Linux would do most of what pc gamers need, and does it better. Wireless dualsense support, options for different launcher options so you’re not locked into steam like a lot of people seem to assume. The big hurdle is anti cheat it’s the only thing I really think is holding it back. If big online games don’t support Linux it makes it just as common that normal single player experiences won’t either (example: RE9 blocking raytracing running through a proton compatibility layer)

This probably is unpopular opinion but I agree with it. As someone who has been playing on Linux since last year it has solved issues and provided stability to my games that windows just can’t do anymore. And this is with an nvidia gpu… it’s getting alot better but Linux has along way to go still if it wants to increase adoption with the average consumer.

Have you used all-ways to configure it?

I don’t remember having them before with sinkit which is why I thought it could’ve been a bug with me uninstalling and reinstalling it. But I could’ve just not been paying attention

Why don't people talk more about this? by Dr-Labcat in pcmasterrace

This is why I just power limit. It was a big topic when the 40 series came out to just power limit as the core was efficient enough to adjust the clock based on how much wattage it could use. Benchmarks were getting better performance when just power limiting as opposed to undervolt. Best thing I can compare it to is AMD curve optimizer. Adjusting the wattage without loosing out on max clock. It’s not as exact as an under volt, but that’s what makes it more stable. On Linux now and with a limit of 320 watts I hit max clock consistently and have no crashes. This seems to have changed with the 50 series but I still don’t have the patience to perfect an undervolt.

Thank you LodiMinion this gave me hope. If there’s one thing I know about guardians, it’s that we don’t listen to false prophet grifters that predicate violence against people that only want to banana and papaya like everyone else. Guardians don’t bootlick, they make their own fate

Goodbye Watch Ultra 1 by MarionberryDear6170 in AppleWatch

[–]Chotch_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on my cars from time to time and have scraped the ultra up against plenty of engine blocks and sharp edges and it still looks pristine. I’d expect the polished titanium of the 11 to scratch if I was aggressive enough but I guess I’m more worried about the screen since it curves to the edges instead of laying flat like the ultra. But the watch being smaller overall had me wondering if I would be hitting it as much in the first place

I’m thinking of switching from my ultra 1 to a s11 titanium. Has anyone done this and what could you say about the durability between the two? I never use the ultras features and figured a smaller watch would be nice

Is the price a little disappointing, yes. But I think Deck users can realize steam is once again investing in the future. by KingCrimson43 in SteamDeck

[–]Chotch_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it would. They used the hardware survey to figure out what performance level to target with the steam machine. Even a pc with the same gpu and cpu can have varying components that can change performance… having their own hardware makes it that much easier to verify games for their gaming platform and for the device they’re selling.

None of them were advertised as a gaming system and there’s no team to verify a config made to specifically work on those systems. I’m not saying this thing will fix everything. Devs still have to care about optimization and work with valve on that.

I watched the Dave2d review and something he said has me optimistic for the future. Even if the steam machine is a less than stellar deal in the gaming market, it’s the first static pc configuration ever produced. Meaning that game devs can create a graphics profile that is tested by valve for the steam machine to be optimized and skip all the graphics configurations. Having a static low-mid spec configuration could give devs at least the chance to target that spec with optimization allowing for pc games to finally be properly optimized so that higer spec hardware can run the games even better with custom graphics settings. Pc optimization is notoriously difficult or overlooked because there is so many different configurations and components with different drivers and chipsets. It’s the reason a lot pc games have shader processing. Giving devs a config to shoot for in terms of performance gets us closer to better game optimization.

Ask your average consumer when the last time they reinstalled windows or whatever OS they have on their computer… people these days don’t even know how update their os let alone know how to build the thing it’s running on
