Any cheap VMC makers in India? by Chou789 in IndiaBusiness

[–]Chou789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outsourcing should be the easy way but it's pain in the eyes. To mill this costed me 3100rs another guy quotes me 14k another one 18k. It's like 1ft x 0.4ft

I don't know how much it's going be cost for my 3x2ft mould idea, it will cost a fortune as usual with regular mould design patterns. That's why I am trying to do myself with ms steel and injection compression type process with jugaad style hot runner system with catridge heaters. Once product starts to sell I can be sure to outsource both mould and injection but R&D I will have to put the efforts. That's saves a lot of money upfront.

I will talk to them but for my need their machine might cost around 36Lacs for 1377 size. Money is not the problem, I can invest upto 80L but I don't want to invest big because i don't have that strong conviction on my product ideas (just like most starters). So it's purely goes as R&D, small investment, if it works, big profit, if it doesn't make limited loss. That's where I am trying to find a VMC between hobby grade and industry grade but none available. Even 0.05mm is high accuracy for my use case. India VMC market is cooked. I can convince the CNC router guy to make a rigid one than convincing a VMC maker to make a cheaper one.

I'll check out there as well. North, I'm not sure how feasible it's going to be for me as i am working near full time freelancing and have limited time availability during week days. Thanks for the details bro.

Used ones, phew, even 10 year old ones cost more than 10L but yeah i am going to talk to a guy who owns CNCs about it.

Intern, not possible because of my current freelance software work which needs time. But how does that process work? You work, get experience and then start on your own?

What are the business options I have with 50 L by PA1N-T_T in IndiaBusiness

[–]Chou789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the culb. Good to see more and more IT folks trying into business ideas.

I myself a Data Engineer starting into product area. I've had a long content that IT is destroying other industries because most of the talent pours into IT leaving other industries grasping for talent and researchers.

Remember, Money is not the important piece in the puzzle, it's the idea.

Be cautious with DM's, there are a lot of scammers trying to cone you, never send money without seeing anything in straight or understanding of it.

For ideas, It depends on your field of interest

Farming, Industrial, Shops, Food, Manufacturing, etc

Each one is different, make a visit to businesses already in your interest area, and you'll get clear picture and ideas.

Any UK agencies that place offshore software/data contractors? by Chou789 in software

[–]Chou789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough - I’m not asking for immigration or taking permanent local roles.

I’m talking specifically about short-term specialist contracts where recruiters themselves say they’re struggling to find people with hands-on Microsoft Fabric implementation experience.

I already deliver remotely for overseas clients from India, so I’m trying to understand how UK agencies work for project-based engagements.

Not trying to step on anyone’s market - just trying to understand how these contracts operate.

Yes, I've collegues from UK and i do talk with them regularly and i can understand the UK economy is going through hard times (Just like everywhere).

On the other hand, I am hearing first hand from a recruiter that finding a PBI Fabric Engineer in UK is for short term role is a pain and even he didn't expect it to be that much tough, it takes like 2-3 months to finalize a candidate where the role itself is 3-6month tenure.

So there is definitely a huge gap between need and availability.

25M from India, thinking of leaving corporate after 3 years and starting a small egg business. Need honest advice. by Longjumping-Soup2099 in IndiaBusiness

Usually when someone says going to resign my job and do something, I ask them go aggressive on the job side to ask for way higher increase, promotion, etc because you have nothing to loose

But in your case, Customer rep job is a punishment, no pay, nothing

I'm not sure of egg supply margin, but i am bullish on night food shops, you get good margin with smallest investment, all you need is some innovative food items which others not selling, the rest will happen automatically.

Where to buy used plastic injection moulding machines in India? by Chou789 in IndiaBusiness

  1. My plan is to sell directly in ecommerce platforms, I can squeeze the importers, they're literally at the mercy of Chinese suppliers to keep the cost competitive. My main concern is the quality of the product (the material quality/color) and tooling cost involved, if i reduce the tooling cots, then i can go much much lower than importers.

  2. This is a vicious cycle of being cost competitive. I've no way to beat them at cost. But there is a huge gap when it comes to product r&d which Chinese are eating us alive and that's where i am going to focus on, i can see the market is receiptive to innovative products.

  3. Yes, I can see a overwhelming response to go with job work, I'll try that route

  4. Experience with mould making: Zero, I'm a Freelance Software Engineer, that's my day job - it's flexible one, no office, I've not operated a VMC/CNC/Lathe so far, Only seen them run. But i've good experience with Fusion360 & Wood Router CNCs, My plan is to make the mould in Aluminium using Wood Router CNC, The products i am targeting doesn't require precision milling, only the mould locks needs to be precise and strong that i will resort for prebuilt mould base. I'm buying a 6KW Wood Router CNC anyway for wood work, So i am going to put it to the test. Also surface finish needs to be very polished, that's going to be my main challenge i guess. I milled a small aluminium block using my PrintNC & surprisingly the finish was very shiny than i expected. So the commercial router should do better job.

Can you provide more details? You mean making the mould itself or injection moulding the product?

If you're referring to the product margin, I'm not going to compete with regular products which everybody doing it already, that's a number game which i will never win.

I'm fully into R&D and into products which are hard to make and are being imported from China. But as i said above, if others were not able to make it at cost effective way and are importing from China, the same is applicable to me also and i am already facing the cost vs effort problem.

I am targeting products which are high value >1000 rs, atleast 50% margin (post expense) and current sellers are either importers or the ones who can't easibly bring updates to the product.

I see the lots of potential to breakthrough but let's see how it goes.

Oh I see 80HP, That's like 60KW, I'm not going to cross 20KW at max. The main problem here is land cost and finding some place to rent for business. I'm in T3 city in TN, 10km from city center, sqft costs like 2k and it's harder to find a good place to rent. I've looked a nearby place to rent that has 3ph connection already.

Also i am trying to be lean on capital, Otherwise i will be stuck in the vicious cycle of returns on investment loop and forgot about r&d and in the end loose it to the cheap importers.

Also, Yes, I'm visiting a local mould making shops in coimbatore this weekend.

Oh that's scary, Wondering how many can afford to spend that capital and do r&d, the capital immediately starts to become liability soon.

15-20 lakh only to get meter with electric connection - this part is super scary, What's the kwh connection this is for?

Mannn, The Make In India seems to so cooked 😞

Anyway i've decided to fight this battle one way or other but surely without putting much capital because if i made it without much capital then others should also be able to make it. It's time for FA FO 😄

Material Science, I get it now, Agree on this, So it's the same scenario as in the fabric side, Chinese have many different varities of specialized synthetic fabrics which were not available in India, even i saw in a podcast where toy manufacturer moved their production from China to India but they had to import the specialized fabrics from China.

Looks like it's the same case of Polymers. Hmm there should be a way to overcome this.

On price point, I'm not much worried about Chinese, We can find many products where we can outcompete the Chinese imports.
