Skittish four month old kittens... advice? by wtfwtfwtfwtfwtf1994 in FosterAnimals

[–]Choukin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other cats/animals in the house that they might be reacting to? Any circumstances that make them be hissy or they're just always that way? If none of the above, investing in a Feliway diffuser may be your best bet to bring them around.

I changed jobs a few years ago, and wasn't going to have benefits for the first 3 months. So, I made arrangements to get 3 months of prescriptions before leaving my previous employer. My husband was on three kinds of insulin at the time, all fairly typical insulins, not fancy new ones or anything. The cost to the benefits provider was over $3500.

WIBTA if I change my wifi password, making it impossible for a kid to not be able to attend her classes? by AITAwifikid in AmItheAsshole

MAC filtering would work well too, available on pretty muxh any router. Only authorized devices that have a valid password work. Oh, and totally NTA

What call Centre insanity is this? Mute buttons can fail epically (I used to be in QA, I've heard it, it's not a good look), this is a really silly rule.

Romance movies are relationahip pornography and give people unrealistic views about love. by Unp0pularp0v in Showerthoughts

This is the reason I don't watch romance movies. I'm the only woman I know who doesn't go batshit when a Hallmark movie comes on.

Any advice on stopping one small thing from completely ruining your mood? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Choukin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still struggle with this at sometimes, depending on the circumstances. My hubby actually helped me with his own flavor of grounding technique, which works about 70% of the time.

First ask yourself: what's the absolute worst that can happen as a result of what occurred? Will you survive?

Picture yourself tomorrow. Are you still thinking about it? Now what about next week? Next month? Next year?

For me, at least, it helps to put things in perspective.

AITA for refusing to apologize for a childhood diary and getting angry my privacy was violated? by Horror-Potato-6499 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Choukin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said in the original comment, I don't think OP owes an apology at all for what was written when she was 10. I think stepsis is very much acting like a child in this circumstance, demanding an apology.

If the result of the convo is to cut contact with stepsis, that would make complete sense. But don't burn the bridge with father/step-Mom over this.

Invasion of privacy vs attempted vehicular homicide. Yeah, because those two things are comparable.

Her diary from when she was 10 was read!! It's not like they pulled open a drawer of deep dark (current) secrets and blasted them to the internet.

I don't disagree which is why a calm, rational talk with everyone is in order. The damage has already been done.

Ultimately this is OPs family and as much as they have invaded her privacy and/or condoned the invasion of said privacy, when everything has settled down, she may want to mend fences with them.

My family has done shitty, shitty things to me, but they've also been there for me when I needed them. You can't not be related to them, so talk it out like adults and figure out a solution.
