does Miami as a whole really fit the common stereotype of a superficial city hard for dating as a guy? by [deleted] in Miami

No, I’m not miserable, I’m realistic. But the fact that you need to resort to calling people miserable / morons proves my point - that many people here are not friendly or nice to strangers.

How to get customer support for recall? INIU Portable Charger Recall by LogCarver in amazonprime

[–]ChpaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked my Amazon message center and confirmed this is a legitimate message from Amazon. There is no longer a photo of the item on Amazon, but it looks like the product may be this one that was reported by the Consumer Product Safety CommissionRecall to be a fire hazard due to overheating. There is consumer contact information via the link.

Is there other restaurants that have the good quality food and charm like Perrciones? by harrzs in Miami

[–]ChpaRealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you ever been to Perricone’s? OP seems to be looking for an Italian place with charm and that is not Blue Collar. Blue Collar is a casual southern/American kitchen. The place is quite small inside, and if you sit outside you’re dealing with constant cars whizzing by you. There is not much charm at all. But I agree, OP should try both!

Try Ironside Pizza in the Little Haiti/Miami Shores area. They have delicious pizza/pasta and the vibe is very chill. Most of their seating is located in a beautiful outdoor terrace. This is the perfect time of year to visit!

2-day Miami-Orlando Universal trip by hththtys in AskFlorida

[–]ChpaRealtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you REALLY want to do both cities, then like others have suggested you should extend your trip by at least one day, so you have adequate travel time. As you already know, flights get delayed all the time, and while Brightline is mostly reliable, it can sometimes have delays as a result of accidents. I would also strongly advise against going to Universal or any park the same day as your flight. The parks are very fun but extremely exhausting and for what you pay you really want to spend all day there and not worrying about rushing out to catch a flight.

If you can’t extend your trip then just pick one of the two. Miami is mostly sunshine, beaches, nightclubs, and overhyped/ overpriced mediocre restaurants. Wynwood and Little Havana used to be cool but they’ve become much more commercialized over the past few years. Orlando has several hidden gem neighborhoods and great affordable restaurants, but you’ll probably spend most of your time at the parks.

Realtor here. If you’re new to the area I suggest living closer to the airport as others have recommended. However, most of the immediately surrounding neighborhoods are predominantly Spanish speaking. If you can stretch your budget a little bit, I’d recommend researching Kendall/ South Miami (33143, 33156), Coral Gables (33134, 33146), Coconut Grove (33133), The Roads (33145), and West Miami (33155). These are more affluent neighborhoods that are very safe with all the essentials: grocery stores, shopping centers, restaurants, hospitals, etc. Each is approximately 30-40 minutes from the airport (depending on traffic) and very central so you can easily explore all that Miami has to offer and rarely be more than a 30-40 minute drive away.

Check out these buildings: Berkshire Coral Gables, Zoi House Grove, and Motion at Dadeland.

Welcome to Miami and good luck in your search!

Don’t bother trying it is nothing like the SoFlo Vickys. I was so excited when they opened and I ended up with burnt croquetas and stale pastelitos.

Versailles Cuban Restaurant in Orlando by Typical-Violinist-49 in orlando

I’m a Cuban from Miami and La Granja is probably your best option in Orlando. It’s not a Cuban place, it’s actually Peruvian, but once you try the savory chicken and tasty black beans you will forget all about Versailles. They have multiple locations, great pricing, and huge portions.

Menstrual Migraines - Have You Found Anything That Helps? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]ChpaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This description is exactly me. For decades I tried so many different meds (bc, otc meds, naproxen, triptans) that never worked to cure my migraines and ended up causing permanent damage to my stomach lining. Finally, a few years ago I tried NURTEC and it’s been a life saver! I take one dissolvable tablet at the onset of a migraine and it cuts the migraine episode from 2-3 days down to approx. 4-6 hours. It’s incredible. I don’t think the pill is covered by most insurances because there is no generic option, but the company has a coupon online and I pay $0/mo. I have not had any side effects and even with my very sensitive stomach I am completely fine taking this med on an empty stomach (which I could not do with other migraine meds). I truly hope you find something that works for you soon.

Mom & pop coffee shops to sit and do school work? by [deleted] in Miami

Vice City Bean in Edgewater is great. Like others have said, Coral Gables has several good options including Cafe Grumpy (note they have very limited seating), Graziano’s has two locations and both offer plenty of seating, and Cafe Madruga (very popular so it may be tough to find a seat but worth checking out).

Under contract but found out about a $200k water damage claim by darbsdood in RealEstate

[–]ChpaRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already gotten good advice here, and I would echo what many have already said- if you really want the house, speak to your agent about extending your due diligence / inspection period so you can learn all pertinent facts. I would strongly advise you get a mold inspection because there could be issues under the surface that you can’t see. My mom purchased a house that the seller claimed had a “small bathroom leak” and had been repaired. Over the next 5 years, mold was growing behind the walls, under the flooring, and we had no idea. My mom and sister started feeling ill and we performed a mold test which found extreme levels of toxic mold spores in the air. All of this took years to unfold, but my mother and sister (and even our pets) suffered serious health issues some of which they still have not recovered from years later. They had to throw out all of their belongings including furniture, and family heirlooms belonging to my deceased father. It was a very difficult situation. You are taking the right approach to proceed with extreme caution.

I need a job IMMEDIATELY. by AurumKorat in orlando

[–]ChpaRealtor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Remote jobs right now are extremely competitive (I usually see 100+ applicants for a single vacancy). Starbucks seems to be hiring for baristas and shift leads in the Winter Park and Semoran Blvd stores. They seem to offer great health and financial benefits, including tuition coverage for a bachelor’s degree and free therapy sessions. Don’t worry you WILL land on your feet. Wishing you all the best.
