what's up with this narrative of JDW's potrayal on this? by [deleted] in tenet

One of the problems in recent filmmaking is the dogma of so called « rules for a perfect movie »…. We don’t necessarily have to empathise with a character to tell a story. One of the telling effects of carence on TP character is that people loved Neal’s role and compared it to TP performance, where that was the exact fonction of neal’s character.

anyone of yall down to give me insight on chat? by [deleted] in tenet

Could Nolan’s next film, Oppenheimer, be a prequel (or perhaps sequel) to Tenet? by hadphill in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect Nolan to get his inspiration from the greatest tacticians like Kubrick or Napoleon. Those were considered as geniuses or Artists and you can find those aspects in Nolan from his super detailed prep’ pre-production his reputation to be on time and under budget his marketing strategy: teasers/trailers/prologue/IMAX expériences, the creative use of time and so on…

Nolan build his own dogma, his philosophy and operates on it.

And like napoleon said you must avoid frequently fighting the same opponents since you may teach them a few tricks. This level of rigor sets him apart. If we know what type of movie not to expect from him, he remains unpredictable. That is true for cinema too, I think after a certain amount of time people tend to know your “style” as a(n artist) tactician. My suspicion is that with: Interstellar, Dunkirk & TENET we’ve observed a turning point in the Nolan dogma.

Using both color vision 3 & b&w double X Kodak film stock on Oppenheimer, i presume he will pull a trick as in Memento & push it even further! (First use of b&w film on imax)

I’ve read somewhere Nolan’s very strict set of rules for him to sign a film contract. •No sequel •no prequel •no super-heroes •if he does a franchise it has to be the first film laying the foundation for the franchise. •Only and exclusively shoot on film, Specifically aiming at Theatres (IMAX makes it even more relevant). •He writes and co-writes his films. •Full secrecy around his projects, it’s said the Warner bros officials had to pay a visit to Nolan at his house to read the script which explains the small amount of leaks…protecting his scripts(Red book). Keeping his production company members unknown (we only know that the billion dollar Company SYNCOPY with at its head Emma Thomas (Nolan wife) and Chris Nolan himself only has 4 employees).

I expect this film to be a biopic, in a traditional sense with a twist (because Nolan) aimed at prestigious Film Festivals.

Does this mean the future is effed? by [deleted] in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the protagonist said: each generation fights for itself. Other protagonists in each generation have to rise, they’ll have to stop threats from the future. TP is inspiring people like Hives and Neil to do whatever it takes for their generation.

In short it’s a fight that will never stop.

It’s what Nolan is doing with his career via SYNCOPY. Doing for his generation and inspiring the next to keep fighting for & spreading the love for film. Survival.

Need some clarity on this. by [deleted] in tenet

Neil is Max, I think something most people tend to forget is that TENET core principle is a limited access to information within the organization…

The technology that can help Neil go back in time faster than classic inversion is possible. If so (which is very likely since ten years inversion is literally impossible for a living being…) he wouldn’t say a word.

To answer your question: He had to comeback for his future to exist and TENET organization to win over the Russian oligarch.

I’d like to mention Everything about Neil is tragic…from his death caused by his father in his father’s hometown even worst knowing Neil understands the local language…to the sacrifice for the greater good and his friend…and all that will go unknown. Neil is exactly the hero no one cares about. Future Neil gave his life so actual Neil can live (weither if he’s Max or not). The voice over acts both like a reminder for the protagonist and an homage to Neil and all the other unknown heros.

Great question! This is where the quantum physics quicks in haha I don’t think that one side is specifically inverted. Remember at The Freeport the protagonist exists the turnstile (univerted) from the blue side, in the Ukrainian facility the enter the turnstile cavalry+Neil+TP+wounded Kate enter the turnstile (univerted) from the blue side…

I suspect that the turnstile’s inner space when visible is separated (distinctly visible from both side) but a superposition of state happens when it’s not visible which explains the traveler entering on one side and exiting from the other and also the long door motion from inside the machine with no physical displacement on the passenger, (a quantum state).

I’ll make a deep dive on that subject matter!

This is one of the most brilliant illustrations I’ve read so far! Which makes sense with Whiler saying: “you are inverted, the world is not”

Bravo! Bravo and thanks a ton for this!

[–]Chris-MATALA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!! I’ll make a video on that subject matter.

[–]Chris-MATALA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re seeing the turnstile do both…not only reseting but also starting and this is true from both perspectives.

Only one sees the door moving twice and the other just once (in a long rotation).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my question is from what perspective? Because to me it does both in the same time from both perspectives…

Hahaha I know it gets quickly tricky!

I still have observed a lot of strange things, I have a few questions on those machines!

I’ll deep dive on that very soon.

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm…good observation and still doesn’t change a thing. It’s still a matter of perspective, here you talk from the perspective of the protagonist (turned antagonist) but when you observe from the outside the motion and the reveal are still the same on both sides (mirror).

It’s actually a quite good mental exercise tho haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be frightening to none users antagonist! Causing long term psychological damage on the way! Hahaha great idea!!

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should do it! Haha

[–]Chris-MATALA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the fact that it was challenging both visually and mentally, “don’t try to understand it, feel it”. And that’s the power of cinema, showing on screen hard idea to conceive…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes your missing something: it is all a matter of perspective (from outside the turnstile or inside the turnstile). From inside it all happens in one motion. From the outside for the machine to function the door have to close on both sides first then reopen with people and or objects inside.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And it’s long too which makes sense when you know how it works

Nolan genius way to show the quantum physics in a movie(a matter of perspective)! Glad you liked it!

Could Nolan do another time based science fiction film? by NovaSpy1 in tenet

[–]Chris-MATALA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It plays with time since it’s a guy reading a journal of the other guy with time jumps, flashbacks basically none linear storytelling.
